In Schleswig-Holstein, near the Schaalsee lake, Frederike and her husband have transformed a former thatched-roof school country home into a sustainable vacation home. The country house includes four apartments as well as rooms for seminars and team building and is made exclusively of natural building materials such as clay, wood and stone.
As one of two apartments on the upper floor, this one welcomes you with warm natural tones, modern Scandinavian-style furnishings, and original preserved wooden beams and doors. Here under the roof, clean lines and soft color accents provide atmospheric tranquility.
Whether you arrive as a couple, with friends or as a family with children - two lovingly designed bedrooms with double beds and a shower room offer enough space for up to four people. In the high-quality, open kitchen you can cook together with a view of the outdoors and spend extensive dinner or game evenings in the adjoining living and dining area.
The spacious garden and private terrace invite you to barbecue, relax and daydream, while the numerous swimming spots in the surrounding area and the sheer endless nature around the Lauenburg Lake District and the Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve offer numerous excursion opportunities. Here you will experience how nature and design can be optimally harmonized.
Tourism Fee not included
A Tourism Fee is a mandatory fee that you have to pay when visiting certain tourism areas in Germany. The fee is not included in the price because it depends on where you stay, how many nights you stay, how old you are and if you’re bringing your dog. The fee usually varies between €0 and €4 per adult per night, but may be 5% in certain areas, such as Berlin. It should be settled with the host upon arrival.

The sustainable concept creates a particularly soothing and relaxing atmosphere through the use of natural materials
Interior design expertise and a flair for design ensure a stylish living experience
The large garden in front of the house and the location between bathing lakes, meadows and fields offer unforgettable nature moments
I'm Frederike and since spring 2023 I've been running a place in the heart of the Lauenburg Lake District where we make our dream of sustainable country living come true for design-savvy families. The former school country home immediately won us over with its charm, and in the thatched brick house we have created four vacation apartments with ecologically valuable interiors in a very extensive core renovation with energy-efficient construction. As an interior designer, I can let off steam to the full in this beautiful place and am ideally supported by my husband, who is overly talented in craftsmanship. As a patchwork family, we know the needs of parents and children and look forward to sharing our hospitality.
