Architect-designed 30's gem with Tisvilde Hegn as neighbour

Tisvildeleje, Denmark

Highlights and descriptions have been auto-translated from Danish

Highlights from Katrine & Per

  1. Take the towel under your arm and walk along the small gravel path down to Tisvilde Strand
  2. Enjoy the tranquillity of an original setting with lots of light and beautiful Danish design classics
  3. Explore Tisvilde Hegn, which borders directly on the undisturbed garden

In a quiet cottage area, in the coastal village of Tisvilde, lies this cottage with a unique and well preserved charm and warmth. Here you will be transported back to the relaxed holiday style of the 1930s, and you can even walk directly from the garden along the grass path down to child-friendly Tisvilde Strand. Inside, love has gone into every plank of the house. Carefully selected vintage finds and Danish designer furniture adorn every nook and cranny, so you'll quickly sense how everything has been hand-picked with an eye for the house's originality. Outside you will find two terraces surrounded by the most wonderful garden with old trees and flowering shrubs. Here you can enjoy the sunny days with a summer barbecue, a cold glass of white wine and relaxation - and if the weather is more for indoor cosiness, just light up the wood-burning stove and let the board games spread out on the dining table. If you want to explore the area, Tisvilde Hegn is an ideal destination for long walks and mountain bike rides in nature. You can also stop by one of the many farm shops and gather for an evening's cooking at home in the beautiful carpenter's kitchen.

Meet your host

Katrine & Per

Host since February 2023

Our cottage has kept its soul from 1934, when it was designed and built by a talented female architect. Although it has been renovated in 2021, we have made sure to keep the originality. We love to gather around the large dining tables and enjoy each other's company. The kitchen is centrally located in the common room, which creates a very special intimacy. There are also windows along the kitchen table so we can follow what's going on in the garden. As part of the renovation in 2021, we also had the terraces refurbished, which still consist partly of the original bricks from the 1930s, as well as some used stones from the 1960s. We love relaxing on a sun bed on the terraces, or enjoying a glass of wine while the kids play in the large garden. We try not to trim the garden too much. We love to let the wild nature leave its mark on the surroundings. Not far from the cottage there are also a couple of local farms. One of them is Rokkedyssegård, which sells the most delicious strawberries. Then there's Rabarbergården, which sells organic groceries and bread baked from organic flour.
