Skovsgaard Estate, also known as Naturdestination Skovsgaard, is located on southern Langeland in scenic surroundings. Today, the estate is owned by the Danish Nature Foundation, which was founded by the Danish Society for Nature Conservation. For this we owe a big thank you to a very special woman.
Miss Ellen Fuglede was the last and only heir to Naturdestination Skovsgaard. As she had no heirs, it was very important to her that the place could be preserved as a whole. Therefore, she bequeathed the estate and its 389 hectares to the Danish Society for Nature Conservation, which was later taken over by the Danish Nature Foundation. The legacy to the foundation is a gift, but also a task. For the unmarried Miss Fuglede, the nature around Naturdestination Skovsgaard was the most precious thing she owned, so it was very important to her that the property and nature remained in conservationist hands.
