Highlights from Johannes og Liv Eli

  1. Go on a mountain trip in Vågslid and come home with mountain-grabbing nature experiences in your luggage
  2. Fall in love with the cabin's beautiful design solutions and inviting atmosphere
  3. Get peace of mind on the terraces, where you can warm yourself around the bonfire and enjoy the view of water and mountains

Down by the lake in the beautiful natural area of Vågslid, you will find this architect's dream of a cabin, which with its simple, light wooden facade and grass on the roof, stands in beautiful contrast to the classic dark cabins nearby. Here you can let yourself be embraced by the tranquility of the landscape and the intimate and inviting interior. Inside the cabin, it's easy to see that the hosts have an eye for detail - with everything from second-hand finds that have been given a new life to unique design solutions such as different social zones. At the dining table you can enjoy long, cozy meals or creative projects, while the sofa corner gives you the opportunity to curl up with a good book. Upstairs, the loft and the oak posts form the perfect framework for the children's play. The cabin has two bedrooms on each side of the two floors, and there is plenty of space for families or several generations to gather at the cabin. In the main house, the large windows create a fantastic flood of light and give you the feeling of being one with nature. If you are lucky, you may be visited by both hares and foxes. Outside, you can enjoy the sun on the two terraces from sunrise until it sets behind the mountain in the evening. Lose yourself in the beautiful view of Lake Vågslivatnet and the mountain and get warm around the fire pan in the pitch dark. All around you, the fantastic landscape offers beautiful hiking trails, but you can also choose Haukelifjell Ski Center where you can enjoy a day of alpine skiing or snowboarding, just a few minutes' drive from the cabin. Inside, you can really feel that your hosts have been fussy about the details - from flea finds, which have breathed new life into them, to design solutions, which provide different social zones. At the dining table you can enjoy long meals or creative pursuits, while the sofa corner invites you to curl up with a good book. Upstairs, the loft and the oak posts form the perfect framework for children's doctor. The summer house's two bedrooms on each of the two floors and the associated annex provide space for you to go as a couple, several families together or across generations. In both the main house and the annex, the large windows create a fantastic flood of light and give you the feeling of being one with nature. If you are lucky, hares and foxes will look past. Outside, you can enjoy the sun on the two terraces from early morning until it sets behind the mountains in the evening. Lose yourself in the most beautiful view over Vågslivatnet and the mountains, and snuggle around the fire pit in the twilight. The landscape around you invites you to go for walks, but you can also pull on your ski gear or head for Haukelifjell Ski Center, a short drive from the house.

Host since November 2022

Our cabin at Vågslid was completed in the summer of 2017. It is a meeting point and gathering place for children, grandchildren and friends. The cabin is frequently used at weekends, on holidays and on the way to and from visits to Eastern Norway, and after we became pensioners we have also used the cabin on weekdays when the occasion arises. We enjoy life in and around the cabin and the beautiful hiking opportunities the surroundings offer all year round. Vågslid, and the surrounding area, offer many opportunities where you can enjoy both short trips in the immediate area around the cabin (especially suitable when you have small children in the family), and longer day trips to nice destinations in summer and winter. Vågslidvatnet offers great opportunities for canoeing, fishing and swimming in the summer. For those who want to combine winter skiing trips with alpine skiing or snowboarding, Haukelifjell Ski Center is just a few minutes' drive from the cabin.
