The summer house has a calm and simple decor in subdued colours, and you automatically fall at ease. Not least because of the light and the large windows, and often you can spot a squirrel, a pheasant and lots of birds.
The kitchen has everything you need for cooking, and in the cupboards you'll find spices, sugar, flour and everything else you need for the kitchen, just like you do for dishcloths and tea towels. When you arrive here, the house is nicely heated and set up - ready for you to just relax the second you step inside.
On the terrace, you can lounge in the hammock or wicker furniture during the summer months, and when the day draws to a close, catch the last rays of the sun on the covered terrace. In fact, there's always a sunspot to be found on the grounds.
Here you will automatically get to live the slow life with a good book, a fishing rod or around a fire. If you want to be more active, there are plenty of opportunities for SUP, canoeing/kayaking on the Gudenåen, a wonderful playground within walking distance or using the many mountain bike trails in the forests around Silkeborg.

Our names are Mette and Claus, and our cottage by the river Gudenåen is our fantastic sanctuary and oasis. We bought the cottage in 2018 while we were living in Cyprus to have a place to be with our family when we were visiting Denmark. It is a very special place for us, which we are now happy to share with others. Indeed, there is an amazing silence and tranquility here at Gudenåen.
When we are here, we always go for a walk down to the jetty, take a stroll along the river or go for a swim. If we have to recommend a few things while you're here, it's to experience the Gjern hills, the nature around Silkeborg and to eat at Svostrup Kro. It's like stepping into a time warp and you can walk there along the Gudenå River.
