In the middle of the UNESCO Global Geopark Odsherred lies a classic oasis with black painted wood, white glazed windows and a wide open space for the whole family to explore. On the beautiful natural grounds you will find two houses from 1936, which were originally two separate summer cottages. From ancient times, the houses on the road have been given names, so the main house is called 'Skovhuset' and the annex is called 'Kukkeren' and is built from material found on the road after the war. The family has extended 'Skovhuset' with a new bathroom and kitchen, and completely renovated 'Kukkeren' - except for the beautiful loft.

'Skovhuset' consists of a nice large entrance hall with space for outerwear and footwear, and adjoins the bathroom with shower and washing machine. There is underfloor heating in both the entrance hall and the bathroom. In the cosy kitchen there is plenty of work space so you can be several to prepare the food. At one end of the living room there is a wood-burning stove and a cosy corner with TV, sofa and wicker chairs, and at the other end there is a dining area with a dining table that can be pulled out to seat many. In the garden room there is a small desk, and otherwise the space invites you to relax. Here you can watch a deer with its kid pass through the garden just outside the large French doors. Finally, there is a lovely bedroom, and across the hall you will find the bunk room with authentic old bunks that have just been given a good coat of paint. The 'bunk room' consists of a small kitchen, a small and cosy living room with access to the terrace, and a nice cool little bedroom. The bed is not quite as wide, but if you are young and newly in love, it is easily possible to sleep two in it, and otherwise you can supplement with an air mattress.

The garden is lovely and sunny with the possibility to seek some shade. There are beautiful views of mature planting all around, as well as pretty apple trees, wild climbing roses and raised beds of lavender and herbs ready to pick and take into the kitchen. There are three terraces in total with garden furniture and parasols, so you can easily move to suit the sun. Behind the house is a small yard with outdoor shower, fire pit and outhouse where you'll find sun loungers and beach equipment, a tow cart, and various outdoor games. Here you will also find a small barbecue that you can take to the beach.

Hop on those good walking shoes and explore the area's lovely woods or take a stroll along the beach. If you like cycling, the area offers many paths and good routes in the hilly moraine landscape with captivating views. The area also offers many cosy flea markets, farm shops and good eateries to suit all tastes.

Highlights from Charlotte

Host since June 2022

  • In the middle of a unique natural area with hilly landscape and rich animal and plant life
  • Located in the coveted area called the Number Roads, which is right down to the water
  • Here is a real cottage atmosphere in simple style with light wood and many good flea finds

We are a family living in an apartment in the inner city of Copenhagen. We love relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere in the old house, messing around in the garden, cooking good food and having guests for dinner. We also enjoy going for long walks in the beautiful nature, which is absolutely fantastic with both the forest and the very child-friendly beach close by. We have a rule here at the house; in the summer, every day starts with a morning dip in the wonderful sea water, then home under the outdoor shower and then a nice cup of coffee on the terrace. We often go to the flea market and on excursions, where we buy lobsters very early in the morning in Odden Harbor or shop in the many good farm shops in our area. There are also several eateries, such as Dragsholm Castle, Lillero and Birkemosegård with pop-up restaurants.
