We use our holiday home all year round - even though we live on the other side of the country. We go into vacation mode and our shoulders drop when we hit the dam that leads the 10 km across the Wadden Sea to Rømø. The cottage is spacious and high up in the sky. This is where we kick up our feet and read books, and this is where we grab our tools and get practical.
The natural grounds are filled with pine trees, so the kids can climb and build caves - close to the adults, but still in their own little world. We enjoy cycling to the nearby plantation, where there is both a forest playground and 'mountains' with views. In summer, we often head to the wide sandy beach at Lakolk. There is plenty of space and sometimes we are almost completely alone. In winter, we wade in the Wadden Sea in search of oysters. The house is located approximately in the middle of the island, so everything on Rømø is easily accessible from here. This also applies to the butcher, ice cream shop and café, which are all within walking distance.
