A hiding place in the woods, with animal life and calmness

As soon as you roll through the densely wooded driveway, you'll feel your shoulders slump and your pace kick into first gear. Here you are surrounded by forest, which means that in the morning you will often be visited by the area's deer, hares or pheasants. The entire house is deliberately kept in natural colors, only disturbed by small or large works of art, so the aesthetics are in focus.

The atmospheric wooden summer house was designed by an architect, which can be seen and felt in the level difference in the house, the large windows and the many odd angles, all of which reveal that the black house nestled in the forest is anything but ordinary.

You enter directly into the kitchen, which is opened up so you can always chat with those hanging out on the sofa or lounge outside. The large dining table invites you to enjoy breakfast, LEGO building, drawing pictures or enjoying a glass of wine after dark. Opposite the sofa you will find the heart of the house; the cozy wood-burning stove that warms up the house and gives you peace of mind. The three bedrooms exude peace and quiet, where you can either go to bed or enjoy your favorite book, while the bathroom exudes character with its slightly crooked floor and Skagen cottage style.

Next to the wood-burning stove is access to one of the terraces, where you can enjoy your morning coffee and drinks in the evening sun. The family has dubbed the terrace the "Saint Tropez lounge", as the music from the house's B&O speaker and a good rosé from the local grocery store quickly ignites the Saint Tropez atmosphere. In a green corner of the large garden, you'll find the second terrace, where you can enjoy a well-deserved lunch under the parasol after you've walked 1.5 km to Toms Fiskebod and picked up the country's - perhaps even the world's - best fish cakes.

The beach at Hou has the finest sand in Denmark and is extremely child-friendly due to the shallow water. In Hou you'll also find a cozy marina with a delicious waffle house. A little further away is Hals, where you can browse French vintage shops, enjoy an ice cream or explore the old fort. If you're up for a longer trip, you can also head to stunning Lønstrup on the west coast, with its beautiful dune landscape and cozy cafés. While you're in these parts, the kids can also have fun at Fårup Sommerland. If you're the opposite of knights, armor and ghosts, you can visit Voergaard, where you're guaranteed to have trouble sleeping when night falls.
