We live north of Copenhagen and we enjoy going up to the cottage on weekends and vacations with our two children. When we bought the house six years ago, it was quite a bargain and we set out to renovate it with respect for the original 60s look that we both love. We enjoy that the house is so close to the water and that it's a quiet and relaxed area - yet you can be in Tisvilde with all its shops and eateries in 10 minutes.
We love the different beaches - from Heather Hill to Asserbo, the stunning Tisvilde Hegn and the landscape of Tibirke Bakker. We run in the forest all year round and pick mushrooms in the fall, where we also love cycling around the area and shopping at everything from our local fishmonger, Den Friske Fisk just around the corner, to all the local farm shops in the area. The flea market in Tisvilde on Saturdays is a regular ritual, and there are plenty of flea markets at farms around the area. We enjoy ending the day with a drink on Hotel Helenekilde's terrace overlooking the Kattegat and watching the spectacular sunsets from the beach steps at our holiday home.
