Description

The beautiful thatched cottage is completely secluded in a forest on a planted long field. Here the dune landscape and the forest are the closest neighbors. The cottage was renovated and rebuilt 14 years ago, and today stands covered with black wood shavings and covered with straw. Inside, the house is completely rebuilt with respect for the identity of the cottage. All walls and doors are clad in Douglas wood, which gives the rooms a warm glow, natural color and a Scandinavian feel. In the lovely living room there is a fireplace under a beautiful curved ceiling and then there is an open connection to the bright and nice kitchen. In the living room there is wireless internet and the possibility to connect your computer to the television, so you can enjoy a windy evening with a good movie. The kitchen is equipped with everything that is needed to create the good dinner, which can be enjoyed at the fine dining table. On the ground floor there are also two bedrooms with a total of three beds. From all rooms on the ground floor there is access to the beautiful terraces. Under the arched ceiling on the first floor there is a bedroom with a double bed as well as an alcove under a twig with another sleeping space. Opposite the sleeping alcove there is a similar niche which is used as a depot for bed linen. The cottage is on all sides surrounded by terraces with lush planting stone walls. In the middle of the plot, under the tall birch and oak trees, there is a large campfire site, bounded by lemur walls and benches. The trees on the plot have been pruned to give the long look while sitting intimately and protected. Under the tall trees by the house, in the near future, there will be a wilderness bath and outdoor shower in a black cubic frame - here it will also be planted with creepers and ivy, like the other garden elements on the plot. In the front yard the construction of an outbuilding lined with black wood shavings and grass on the roof ongoing. In this outbuilding you can find the two bicycles that can be borrowed to explore the beautiful National Park Thy with all its distinctive features and possibilities.

John & Joanna

We are a family of three consisting of Joanna, John and our son Peter, who go to primary school. We live daily in Aarhus, where we run an architectural firm together. Together with his fellow students from the School of Architecture, John has run and built up a large international company, which has now been replaced by the joint family design studio. Joanna is also the CEO of a landscape architectural firm. We thus work on a daily basis with Scandinavian design and architecture, and this is what characterizes our holiday home to that extent. Here, materials, light, nature and “Danish cosiness” are the primary focus. We love living in the cottage, which is a nice contrast to an active life in a big city, and here there is a relaxing tranquility among the vast expanses of National Park Thy. It feels as if we are far away from everyday life despite the fact that we are still in Denmark. We use National Park Thy a lot on our long walks or bike rides with our dog. The interaction between walking in the dune landscape behind the North Sea and directly along the water, at all times of the year, has become a part of us. We enjoy being blown through and subsequently sitting in front of the fireplace - it's some of the best we know. When the weather is calmer we sit in the garden between the trees, enjoying the sound of the fire by our intimate campfire while we make pancakes and popcorn. Nr. Vorupør is a small cozy fishing village and here there are lots of things to do. The fishing town has a coastal front with fishing houses, tractor games, restaurants and holiday apartments. The 100 meter long pier, which Nr. Vorupør is known for, provides shelter for hauling of fishing cutters and now also the surf sport's famous Cold Hawaii.
