In the middle of the rough dune landscape, in Kandestederne on Skagens Odde, lies this dream of a log summer house. Just 300 metres to the west you can take a dip in the Skagerak, while to the east you can experience Denmark's largest hiking retreat, Råbjerg Mile.
The summer house is built in traditional style in the finest sense of the word. The main house was renovated in 2007 with three lovely bedrooms, and if you want to wake up all to yourself with a view of the dunes, you can find space in the small annex. The exposed beams and the homely, personal decor mean that you immediately feel a warm and cosy atmosphere the moment you step inside. From the open kitchen you'll find a lovely dining area with room for the whole family, a lovely little workspace for those loose errands and a sofa corner where you can snuggle up in front of the wood-burning stove.
From the heart of the house, there is access to a large wooden terrace that surrounds the entire house. Here you can barbecue on a sunny summer evening, take a rinse under the house's two outdoor showers or simply enjoy the view of the children playing in the dune landscape. You can also enjoy nature in peace and quiet, go mountain biking in the area or discover the Skagen painters and Grenen just 20 minutes away.

Our names are Katrine and Claus and we live in North Zealand. Our family has had our summer house for 16 years and we consider it our second home. We spend time in the cottage every month of the year, both summer and winter. I, Katrine, have been coming to the area since childhood, and I've spent several summers and vacations here. Both my husband and I are self-employed and on a daily basis I run the company Önling, where I am a knitwear designer and my Claus is an independent consultant specializing in futurology and meetings.
The summer house is our sanctuary and here we get renewed energy. We relax, take a dip in the sea and go for long walks in the wonderful nature. I love riding Icelandic horses and Claus enjoys cycling on his mountain bikes. The Kandestederne is just fantastic all year round.
And don't miss visiting Dorthe Hansen Keramik in Tversted, she makes the most beautiful mugs and ceramics and serves the best cakes in her café in season. You'll find some of Dorthe's ceramics in both our homes.
