In the middle of the raw dune landscape, in Kandestederne on Skagens Odde, lies this dream of a log summer house. Just 300 meters to the west you can take a dip in the Skagerrak, while to the east you can experience Denmark's largest hiking dune Råbjerg Mile.

The cottage is built in traditional style in the finest sense of the word. The main house was renovated in 2007 with three lovely bedrooms, and if you want to wake up all to yourself with a view of the dunes, you can find space in the small annex. The exposed beams and the homely, personal decor mean that you immediately feel a warm and cosy atmosphere the moment you step inside. From the open kitchen you'll find a lovely dining area with space for the whole family, a great little workspace for running errands and a sofa corner where you can cozy up in front of the wood-burning stove.

From the heart of the house, there is access to a large wooden terrace that surrounds the entire house. Here you can enjoy a barbecue on a sunny summer evening, take a shower under the two outdoor showers or simply enjoy the view of the children playing in the dune landscape. You can also enjoy nature in peace and quiet, go mountain biking in the area or experience the Skagen Painters and Grenen just 20 minutes away.

Hi – we are Katrine and Claus, and we live in North Zealand.

Our family has had this summer house for 18 years, and we consider it our second home. We spend time here every month, all year round – both in summer and winter. I, Katrine, have been coming to this area since I was a child and have enjoyed countless summers and vacations here.

Both Claus and I are self-employed: I run Önling, where I work as a knitwear designer, and Claus is a consultant specializing in futurology and meetings. We both work remotely and therefore often use the summer house as a base for work and tranquility in our everyday lives.

The summer house is our sanctuary – a place where we find peace, recharge our batteries, and enjoy the nature around us. We love to take a dip in the sea, go for long walks in the dunes, and just be close to nature. I enjoy riding Icelandic horses, while Claus enjoys mountain biking in the area. Kandestederne is simply magical – all year round.

In 2025, we built a sauna, which you are very welcome to use during your stay for an additional fee. It is a very special experience to sit in the heat with a view of the dunes – especially after a brisk walk or a dip in the sea.

And don't forget to visit Dorthe Hansen Keramik in Tversted. She makes the most beautiful mugs and ceramics and serves the best cakes in her café during the season. You will also find several of Dorthe's fine ceramic works in both our home and our summer house.
