Vestavindshagen - modern gem by sea and hills

We are a married couple in our early 60s with three grown-up sons, and this is our dream cabin. We live in the neighboring municipality of Kvæfjord, which is an hour's drive + 15 min ferry ride away.

One of the things we love most about the cabin is the very special smell of heather and sea that greets us when we get out of the car. The view is absolutely outstanding and the elements come close to the house wall, summer and winter. In the summer, the sun shines 22 hours a day, and there's no light pollution here, so both the starry sky and the Northern Lights are experienced even more intensely out here. It's simply magical. The fjord is just 40 meters away and the area offers opportunities for hiking in fantastic terrain. The neighboring island also offers steep mountains and the opportunity to go randoneeing.

The cabin is located in Norway's northernmost archipelago, with 365 islands and islets, white sandy beaches and Arctic bathing water. The sea provides opportunities for fishing both from boat and from land, and there is easy access to a ferry, so day trips to Senja, Lofoten, Vesterålen and Narvik are within easy reach. The nearest town is Harstad, where festivals are held all year round - such as the Festival of Northern Norway at the end of June. You can also hire boats for deep-sea fishing, go on tours of the archipelago by rib or sailboat or explore the islands and mountains on foot. There are opportunities for great experiences for everyone.
