In the beautiful Gjevilvassdalen valley in Oppdal lies this fantastic log cabin. The yard consists of a classic main house, a guest cabin and a charming storehouse, which together provide plenty of beds for the whole family or group of friends. The guest cottage actually dates back to 1832, when it was used as a prison, and is an important part of the site's history. The beautiful natural materials, such as logs and grass on the roof, make the cabins a natural part of the natural surroundings.
Natural materials are also used inside the cabins, where wood dominates and you really get the classic Norwegian cabin atmosphere. In the main house and the storehouse, the original wood color has been preserved, while the timber walls in each room of the guest cabin have their own color. Cook in the modern kitchen in the main house and enjoy late nights together in the living room.
Outside, the log cabin has a terrace with a fire pit that can be enjoyed all year round, as well as a patio with a hot tub where the whole family can enjoy the view and each other's company, before letting the warmth of the sauna embrace you. You can also keep an eye on the kids while they're enjoying themselves on the swings (the hot tub can only be rented on request and costs NOK 500 per time).
The area offers many great nature experiences all year round. Oppdal is a skier's paradise for alpine and cross-country skiing, where you can experience the mountains on skis, and the rest of the year you can go on forest and mountain hikes, try your hand at rafting, climbing and cycling or experience a musk ox safari. You can swim, fish and take a boat trip in Lake Gjevilvatnet, which is just below the cabin. The cabin has a canoe, kayak and rowing boat for you to use, so the possibilities are many. In the area you'll also find Gjevilvasshytta where you can buy waffles and ice cream.

My name is Dagfinn, and this log cabin means a lot to me. The cabin is filled with history and several generations of holiday enjoyment, and I look forward to the guests experiencing this atmosphere. My cabin has been in development since the first part was built in 1962, and since then the main cabin has been expanded and we've added a storehouse.
When I'm at the cabin, I like to sit in the hot tub and look up at the starry sky, enjoy the light from the full moon and occasionally glimpse the northern lights if I'm lucky. Here at the log cabin, I experience peace of mind and would like to share the same feeling with my guests.
If you would like to use the hot tub, please send me an inquiry. It costs 500 NOK per time.
