In the small, idyllic village of Skovballe on Sydtåsinge, this beautiful, historic house from 1877 exudes a nostalgic atmosphere with its thatched roof. The house is surrounded by a large, enclosed garden, so there's plenty of space for your family or friends to enjoy the tranquillity of the peaceful, rural surroundings.

Inside, you can embrace the modern comforts of home while enjoying the flea market finds and retro details in the décor, which is in keeping with the history of the house. The living room has a high ceiling, so the dormer window on the first floor brings light into the room, while the red tile floor and exposed ceiling beams add a rustic touch. Let the kids play in the cozy loft, or gather around the dining table with the batting bench full of board games.

On the lovely southwest-facing wooden terrace, soak up the sun and feel the idyllic atmosphere as the horses graze in the pasture adjacent to the garden, while the large lawn invites you to play and sunbathe. Enjoy a quiet moment in the shade on the bench under the tree or bake s'mores over the embers in the fire pit. If you're looking for a special nature experience, it's not far to the protected area Monnet, which is Funen's largest salt marsh with rich plant and animal life around the small beach lakes and tidal channels.

  • Enjoy the modern conveniences and nostalgic, retro details of the interior
  • Embrace the peace and quiet in the rural setting of this small village

Our names are Pia and Poul and we live in Copenhagen. A few years ago, we went in search of a peaceful haven in rural surroundings for our family of four and fell in love with the small village of Skovballe on Sydtåsinge. In particular, we fell in love with the old blacksmith's house from 1877, which is now the setting for our life in the countryside. The house has a rich history, which has been well documented by the previous owner and has included regular visits from Dirch Passer. We have spent a lot of energy updating the house both inside and out, and after a few years, we think we have created the house we dreamed of, so we can now primarily relax and enjoy the fruits of our labor. We are happy to be able to share this environment with others.

We have several favorite places that are close to the house. At the small marina, Skovballe Harbor, an eager city guild has been behind the creation of a nice, permanent jetty, so you can easily jump into the waves over a pebble-free sandy bottom. It's super cozy and we like to meet more of the locals in the afternoon. There are also plenty of opportunities to fish for crabs in the harbor. We also like to visit the farm shops and roadside stalls in the area, while Svendborg, the Cold War Museum and Egeskov Castle are also worth a visit and are only a short drive from the house.
