In the joinery-built kitchen, there is plenty of opportunity to conjure up the family's favourites, while the large terrace offers the opportunity to enjoy both good meals and good company, but also the silence and the view over sea, forest and sky.
The large bedroom in the cabin is completely unique, where with huge windows you can lie under the duvet and look out over the 1,000-year-old primeval forest, the boat traffic towards Fredrikstad and the clear starry sky that gives you the feeling of the symbiosis between the cabin and Storesand's magnificent nature .
Storesand and Hvaler are places that are perfect to explore both on land and on water. Go island hopping in the Oslofjord or follow the coastal path through a varied landscape with everything from wild nature to works of art and medieval churches. We value good food experiences and good wine. We are people who enjoy life, who are concerned about the good conversation and all that the good life has to offer. Life at the cabin means a lot to us. Here we find a peace that you don't get in the city. We enjoy the silence among the treetops and the view over both forest, sea and sky.
The plot was hand-picked by my great-grandfather in the early 50s, and ever since then the cabin has been the gathering point for our family. We completely renovated the cabin in 2018 and the choice fell on architect Stein Halvorsen, who himself has a cabin on Hvaler. We wanted an architect who could capture all the uniqueness that the place has to offer. As Stein says, it is a mixture of being on the African savannah and sitting in a treetop looking out over the sea and forest.
We like to visit the "centre" in Skjærhalden, which has many good restaurants, and we often visit the coastal path, which has great routes past, among other things, beautiful works of art along the cliffs. We also recommend that you make your way past Arekilen, which with its unique bird life is a wonderful place to go for a walk. You can also go island hopping on the public boat routes, a taxi boat or the Strømstad ferry, which is a great way to get to Strømstad's fine marina.
