In Skiveren on the west coast close to Skagen, this classic retro holiday home from the 1970s is located in the middle of a beautiful, protected nature area. The beautiful dune landscape surrounding the house is named after the farmer Niels Skiveren, who once owned the place. There is plenty of space for the family to feel at home in the peaceful rooms that invite good conversation, relaxation and time for inspiration.
Inside, you'll be greeted by a cozy atmosphere in the nostalgic 'cigar box' style with warm natural colors, and here the family can settle into the retro decor with crib sofas and timeless rice paper lamps. The family room serves as the natural focal point of the house. Here you'll find a ceiling to the ceiling and a beautiful view of the raw nature and dune landscape on all sides. Enjoy the light in the armchairs by the large floor-to-ceiling windows or gather in the sofa corner for a board game.
On the terrace, you can enjoy sea views and the outdoor life can unfold in all weathers under the canopy, while the heather grows close by and surrounds you with a special calm. At the same time, the fine grass roof gives you a feeling of being at one with nature. Take a refreshing rinse under the outdoor shower or enjoy breakfast in the sun. The surrounding landscape opens up your senses and invites you to get out your bikes and head out into nature. If you're driving an electric car, there are charging stations for free use at the nearby campsite.

Stay close to the sea and unique nature and cultural experiences in Skagen
We are a family from Risskov who love Skiveren very much. Our beautiful cottage has been our retreat for 25 years and formed the setting for the untouchable space it is, just to be. Our two adult sons have spent the childhood summers of their lives here, and the house is ideal for the whole family.
Above all, we love the simplicity, the tranquillity, the sea, the smells and the proximity to nature. Morning swims in the sea or walks along the beach and through the dune landscapes of the North Sea Trail, chanterelle picking in the orchard, bike rides with packed lunches, walks to the Tversted Lakes and Denmark's last cane mill, Østerklit. In Kandestederne we enjoy lunch or afternoon coffee with sweets in the garden at the lovely Hjorts Badehotel or a delicious dinner at Bent's in the Ice Bunker followed by a sea bath on the walk home along the beach. In Tversted, we'll eat at the lovely fish restaurant or go flea shopping. In Skagen, just 20 km away, there are plenty of opportunities for art experiences and retro dreams in the company of the Skagen painters, such as lunch at the legendary Brøndums Hotel or a visit to the artists' residences, the glassblowers, the French kitchenware shop and of course the Skagen Museum, where you can dream yourself deep into the many picturesque universes.
We love the history, location and slowness of the house. From the west terrace we can look out over the sea and experience the most beautiful sunsets. Or at sunset we walk the few hundred meters to the sea and up to the "Mountain", which is located at the descent to the beach and see the sunset and the kilometer-long beach from Hirtshals to Skagen from the first parquet. The house is located in the first historic subdivision in Skiveren, in the middle of a raw and beautiful dune landscape, which was originally owned by the old farmer and innkeeper Niels Skiveren. He sold the property "little Skiveren" to Prime Minister Jens Otto Krag and his wife, actress Helle Virkner, who were among the very first vacationers up there. Since then, Skiveren became a secret little haven for other friends of theirs, mainly from the world of theater and politics. People who needed complete peace and quiet for demanding jobs and decisions or creative processes. Today, Skiveren is still a quiet, exclusive cottage area without the noise and bells and whistles. The place and the house have always been restorative for the family and creative for new thoughts.
Because in Skiveren, time slows down and there is time to reflect. In all its simplicity.

The house felt warm and quiet. Everything we needed was available and the interior was nice. Located in the dunes and surrounded by nature if felt very relaxed.
