Half-timbered house for outdoor enthusiasts on the river Elbe
Gartow am See
Holiday home
80 m²
Up to 4 guests
2 bedrooms
In green Lower Saxony, on the course of the Elbe River, four German states meet at one point on the water. In Schnackenburg, where Peer's beautiful, listed half-timbered fisherman's house from 1780 is located, there is a lot to experience especially for cyclists and hiking enthusiasts.
In Peer's apartment there are two bedrooms (one with a double bed and the other with two large single beds) for a total of 4 people, in one bedroom you will also find a desk which is ideal for working and with the view of the garden and the Aland is a wonderful place to linger. The kitchen offers everything you need and is especially cozy with the dining table and large windows. The apartment is located on the second floor and is ideal for couples or groups of friends, although nothing stands in the way of a vacation with children - the area also offers many great destinations. Or you can all make yourselves comfortable together in front of the fireplace in the living room, read a good book and leave everyday life behind you.
The house is centrally located, in just a few minutes walk you will find the village center with the medieval church and many shopping opportunities. In the garden is an old brick barn and just behind it is the dike where the Aland flows along and meets the Elbe. You can sit in the garden on the summer terrace, enjoy the free and wide view of the sky and listen to the river. The Elbradwanderweg is literally right outside the front door and on many other hiking and biking trails you can explore the surroundings. The Elbe ferry, which is not far away, will take you to Brandenburg and the landscape of the Elbe river with its dense forests and small tributaries and lakes is especially beautiful for those who like to move in nature.

Highlights from Peer
Host since February 2023
- Modern and classic furnishings meet in the listed house
- The summer terrace in the garden and the dike behind, where the Aland flows into the Elbe
- Birdwatchers and hiking enthusiasts will find plenty of space and opportunity to pursue their passion here
I'm Peer, worked for a long time in Bremen as an art director in advertising and live a great love of detail - this is also reflected in the interior style that you will find in my house. I love the listed windows, the Biedermeier furniture and the mix of classic and modern. One of my passions is road cycling, and that goes fantastically from the house, because in addition to the Elbe bike path (which is right outside the front door) there are many other opportunities to explore the surrounding area on great bike paths. The vacation home is located on a branch of the Elbe, which makes the area particularly attractive for long walks. From here, it is also only a few hundred meters to the Elbe, on which the ferries pull their lanes. In the house, I prefer to be on the second floor and look out over the river from the bedroom, work there or sit in the kitchen at the dining table with a cozy cup of coffee.

Very, very quiet location on the Aland, no problem even with the 2023 flood. Offer matches the reality. Surroundings invite you to long walks and in summer extensive bike tours, a real insider tip! In normal water conditions, quick routes to Saxony-Anhalt (practically around the corner) and Brandenburg (when the ferry is running) The vacation home is very cozy and is constantly being developed by the owner. As small as it seems from the outside, it is actually very spacious. Beautiful garden with well-kept backyard directly to the Aland. A great place to have breakfast in the morning sun in spring and summer. It greets you in the bedroom in the morning.
