The beautiful thatched cottage is completely secluded in a forest on a planted field. The dune landscape and forest are the closest neighbors. The cottage was renovated and rebuilt 14 years ago and is now clad in black wood shavings and thatched.
Inside, the house has been completely rebuilt with respect for the cottage's identity. All walls and doors are clad in Douglas fir, giving the rooms a warm glow, natural color and a Scandinavian feel. The lovely living room has a fireplace under a beautiful arched ceiling and an open connection to the bright and cozy kitchen. The living room has wireless internet and the option to connect your computer to the TV so you can enjoy a windy evening with a good movie. The kitchen is furnished with everything you need to create a great dinner, which can be enjoyed at the fine dining table. On the ground floor there are also two bedrooms with a total of three beds - one double and one single. From all rooms on the ground floor there is access to the lovely terraces.
On the first floor, there is an alcove under a dormer with another sleeping area. Opposite the sleeping alcove is a similar niche, which is locked and used as a private storage room.

We are a family of three consisting of Joanna, John and our son Peter, who is in high school. We live in Aarhus, where we run an architectural firm together. Together with his fellow students from the School of Architecture, John has run and built up a large international firm, which has now been replaced by the joint family design studio. Joanna has previously worked as CEO in architectural and landscape architecture firms. We work with Scandinavian design and architecture on a daily basis, and our summer house is very much influenced by this. Materials, light, nature and "Danish coziness" are the primary focus here.
We love living in the cottage, which is a nice contrast to an active life in a big city, and here there is a relaxing tranquility among the vast expanses of Thy National Park. It feels like we're far away from everyday life, even though we're still in Denmark.
We use Thy National Park a lot on our long walks or bike rides with our dog. The alternation between walking in the dune landscape behind the North Sea and directly along the water, at all times of the year, has become a part of us. We enjoy being blown through and then sitting in front of the fireplace - it's one of the best things we know. When the weather is quieter, we sit in the garden between the trees, enjoying the sound of the fire at our intimate fire pit while making pancakes and popcorn.
Nr. Vorupør is a small cozy fishing village and there are plenty of things to do here. The fishing village has a coastal front with fishermen's houses, wind-up games, restaurants and vacation apartments. The 100 meter long pier, which Nr. Vorupør is known for, provides shelter for pulling up fishing boats and now also the famous Cold Hawaii surf sport.
