Nature hideaway in a mayor's house in the Wendland region
Gartow am See
Up to 12 guests
7 bedrooms
Extensive fields, horse paddocks, forests and flower meadows adorn the Wendland region of Lower Saxony. In a Rundling village typical of this region, near the picturesque Arendsee, is the mayor's house of Anne and Jan, lovingly renovated until 2020.
The listed farmhouse in half-timbered style welcomes you with a British touch of coziness and a pinch of Bullerbü. Here you will find a place to relax amidst stylishly selected furniture, natural materials and warm color accents. Six light-flooded bedrooms with double beds and one with a sofa bed as well as three bathrooms offer enough space for all your loved ones. A large kitchen with high-quality appliances and the 70 m² former mayor's hall invite you to cook in a large group and to social game evenings. Throughout the house, on a total of 420 m², many small retreats await you to relax.
Start the day with a hearty breakfast at the long wooden table in the dining room and later make yourself "hyggelig" in the living room with a view of the fireplace. On warm days, a real summer fairy tale comes true here on three hectares for small and large guests - whether grilling stick bread at the fire pit, a cozy BBQ on one of the two terraces or the sundeck, or reading a book among fruit trees and flowering meadows, this place offers lasting moments of relaxation in the green. You prefer to explore the area? Anne and Jan will provide you with lots of insider tips. In this idyllic natural setting, a picture-perfect getaway awaits you.

Highlights from Anne Kjaer
Host since March 2023
- The spacious property is part of a Wendland roundel village with flower meadows, fields and a children's playground in the village center
- The kitchen invites with SMEG oven, additional oven, cast iron stove and two refrigerators to cook evenings in large round
- In addition to plenty of space for joint vacation activities, the farm also offers the possibility for workshops and offsites
We are Anne and Jan and have always had the dream to one day buy a piece of land and renovate an old farmhouse entirely according to our ideas. The joy was huge when we turned our dream into reality in 2019. In our farmhouse, built in 1853, we have created a place of coziness with great attention to detail. We love to cook and bake, so we have placed special emphasis on a large, well-equipped kitchen. Our tip for your stay in our beautiful house: a movie night on the big screen or a trip to the Elbe valley meadows.
