Just 50 meters from the clear water and fine sand of the beach, the small architect-designed cottage 'The Red House' blends the best of the 1950s with contemporary design details. Built in the 1950s style, the house retains a lot of the atmosphere of the original house, whose knick-knacks and details have been reused in the new house. The kitchen has a gas hob and a small oven, and there's plenty of crockery and a dishwasher, so you'll have everything you need for a great vacation. Modern updates include underfloor heating, so it's always warm and cozy even in the coldest months. The house is best suited for two adults.
There are beautiful light plank floors throughout the house, and in the living room, the simple wooden partition gives an airy feel. Enjoy the bright, beautifully decorated surroundings and the large windows in the living room, kitchen and bedroom that offer a lovely view of the cozy, scenic area.
The house was designed to preserve some of the history and architecture of the previous house on the site, which was originally part of a small group of bathhouses for city dwellers from Horsens. There wasn't much land between the old bathhouses, so there isn't much of a garden - but there is plenty of surrounding beach and forest to enjoy in both summer and winter. There's nothing like a fresh, cold dip in the rushing sea followed by morning coffee on the small, cozy terrace as the sun rises. Inside, the round window lets the sunlight shine in from the east, and as the day progresses you can enjoy watching the circle of light move through the house from early summer mornings to late summer evenings.

Our names are Lena and Stefan, and we love our beautiful holiday home, which we have built and decorated with a lot of love. Here you can really enjoy a quiet vacation with a clear view of the sunrise over As Vig.
We built and decorated the house ourselves in 2020 with the help of our adult children, and our son Johan designed the house. Everything has been done with respect for the environment, the surroundings and the previous house on the site.
Our favorite spot in the house is waking up in bed and looking out over the sea, as well as the nook with the large bench in front of the kitchen window.
As Hoved with its forest and deserted beaches is definitely our favorite, either by bike or on foot - we love taking walks along the beach where we find wading lights and see seals and porpoises, and there is also fishing. Especially sea trout are popular to fish for.
In the summer we also enjoy SUP-boarding up the coast or going to flea markets in the area.
The beautiful sculpture park and manor Palsgaard is also worth a visit - and if you fancy a drive, the harbor town of Juelsminde is recommended. Here you'll find a delicious fishmonger and a good ice cream parlor.
You can also take an island tour: either to Hjarnø or to Endelave out in the Kattegat. In Horsens, a 15-minute drive from the house, there are restaurants, concerts and city life.
We always make sure the house is warm and clean when you arrive. We look forward to sharing the place with you.

Lena has renovated and furnished the house with great attention to detail. The house offers everything you need for a wonderful stay in Denmark by the sea. The location is fantastic (second row of houses on the beach), the beach is ideal for swimming (fine sand with few waves) and the house is "hyggelig." You can see the sun rise over the sea and the moon reflected in the water. Behind the house is a communal area with a soccer field, volleyball net, and playground, which is not very busy but practical for children. A trip to the nearest town (Horsens, 20 minutes by car) is well worth it. Here you can stroll along the pedestrian zone, go shopping, or enjoy a café or restaurant. I will definitely be back.
