Holidays are all about enjoyment and relaxation, and we just love when we don't have to compromise on good food and pastries when we're at our holiday homes. In North Zealand we truly get the best of both worlds: the opportunity to relax and recharge, preparing meals under the evening sun with fresh, local produce, and ride our bikes to the closest bakery for freshly baked sourdough buns in the morning, to bring back home on the terrace – far from the hustle and bustle of the city.

• Enjoy a beautiful lunch at Rabarbergården Slottet, followed by a stroll in the beautiful gardens surrounding the castle. Make sure to buy pastries to take with you to enjoy later.

• Be on the lookout for the many charming farm shops you’ll encounter on your way. The farmers in North Zealand have a long tradition for selling produce on their farms, and nothing tastes better than meals made with produce that comes straight from farm to table.

• When you want a break from surfing, Lynæs Madbar is a great spot to hang out and get a yummy meal. The modern feel and stunning views makes for a great atmosphere you can enjoy for hours.

• The charming red Hornbækhus is another cute place to take a break from the sun. Enjoy dining community style, or stop by for coffee and cake in the afternoon and enjoy the historic surroundings.

• Visit the farm shop Rokkedysse bær where you’ll find freshly picked strawberries, lemonades and homemade ice cream. This spot is particularly popular with kids, so make sure to add it to your itinerary if you have little ones in the family.

• If you are driving north from Copenhagen, Sommer Canteen is well worth a visit. Get the holiday feeling started early, give the little ones a break to stretch their legs and enjoy a cup of coffee and a delicious breakfast.

Travel

• If you are driving from Sweden or Norway you can sail from Helsingborg to Helsingør and make the charming drive to North Zealand. • If you are driving from Germany you can sail from Rostock to Gedser and make a stop in Lolland-Falster and the southern part of Zealand or drive all the way to North Zealand, which is just around a 2 hours drive.
