The house was designed by Søren Sarup, and we built large parts of it ourselves. The foundation that supports the house and the floor you're standing on were dug out by hand. The insulation that keeps you warm, we put in. The 140 m2 of cedar shingles that please your eye, we've had in our hands - each and every one.

It's been an amazing journey that makes us proud every time we welcome new guests. The part we haven't taken care of has been taken care of by local carpenter Knudsen, who is now known for being a perfectionist.

The house sits perched on the edge of a small lake, which was created when the Waterworks Authority (now the Coastal Directorate) built the dyke on the opposite side of the lake in the first half of the last century. The dike was intended to protect Agger from flooding in the event of the sea breaking through the narrow sandbar separating Flade Sø from the North Sea.

The overarching theme of the work on the house has been an attempt to bring the surrounding nature as close to the indoor experience as possible.

This is done through floor-to-ceiling windows and the orientation of the house towards the lake and the green embankment. The windows face north, providing a pleasant light and an unobstructed view of the changing sky over Thy.

The house is sheltered behind vegetation to the west and south. This provides a pleasant climate on the plot and shields from outside views. There are several terraces and thus a corner almost indifferent to where the light and wind come from.

The total construction consists of a main house and an annex. The main house consists of a spacious kitchen-living room, living room, bedroom and bathroom. In addition, there is a sauna and an outdoor shower. In the annex there are two more bedrooms and a bathroom.

The furnishings are simple and stylish. As a special feature, the dining table is made using circular production methods. The same applies to the dining table chairs, where the seats, for example, are made of recycled marine plastic.

We've gone the extra mile to make you comfortable. We have raised beds with mattresses and top mattresses made from certified organic materials, manufactured using 100% carbon-neutral production methods. The same applies to pillows, duvets and bedding.

Trust us: You and the person or people you're with are going to love that house.

Highlights from Anders & Rasmus

  • Architectural gem
  • Simple, harmonious and magical
  • Very close to Thy National Park

Our names are Anders and Rasmus. We both live with our families in Klitmøller, about 20 km north of Agger. The house expresses our desire to give you and the person(s) you have with you the best possible setting for a wonderful experience close to some of Denmark's most unique nature.

We both surf, and therefore have a fondness for the many surf spots that make the west coast of Thy Europe's Cold Hawaii. In that respect, Agger is something special.

But it's certainly not the only thing worth a visit. In Agger, nature sets the scene and gives you an experience that is honest, simple, magnificent and cosy all at once.

The house is located in the southern part of Thy National Park, a few hundred metres from one of the most deserted beaches on the west coast of Jutland. Immediately north of the house is Flade Sø, further north you have to go all the way to Stenbjerg, which lies in a straight line ten kilometres north of the house, before you meet any significant settlement.

South of the town lies Agger Tange and thus a large hunting and undisturbed bird reserve. The very large expanses without settlements make the starry sky seen from the terraces of the house something very special. Furthermore, it is very easy to find large stretches on foot or by bicycle where you really won't meet an eye.

Just outside the door you can get on the hiking trail around Flade Lake (12 km). This route takes you to Lodbjerg Lighthouse, the southern visitor centre of Thy National Park. From here there is access to a number of hiking trails. There are also good opportunities for touring cycling. Among other things, the "Forces of Nature" cycle route passes through Agger.

We'll be there when you arrive to give you the tips and tricks that suit you and the person or people you're bringing.
