Enjoy the beach at Boeslum

Boeslum Strand is a local favourite with its flowery meadows, clear water, a blue flag signaling that the water is clear and an ice cream parlour for when you need a cool refreshment on hot summer days. From the beach you have a view of the island of Hjelm, and a stone's throw away is the almost 50 metre high lookout Jernhatten with its crooked troll trees. Hosts Maibritt and Jens recommend that you follow the beach southwards to find beautiful rocks or head north to the shallow beach.

Walk along the beach and heathland by the Øer Trail

In the architect-designed holiday enclave Øer Maritime Ferieby with its artificial islands, harbour basins and canals, you're never far from the next swim. Hosts Signe, Ronni and their family often try their hand at fishing for crabs and prawns at the "Children's Crab Bridge" and also love to follow the scenic Øer Trail through marshland, heathland with purple heather flowers, birch forest and of course the beach. About halfway along the route, there's a campfire site where you can take a break with pancakes, marshmallows or "snobrød" (a Danish tradition of twisting dough around a wooden stick and baking it over a small bonfire).

Swim in the secret forest lake

If you're looking for a different kind of swim, take the short walk through the most beautiful fairytale forest from hosts Maria and Kent's summer house, where a small, almost secret forest lake with clear water awaits you. Here, Maria and Kent love to swim in undisturbed natural surroundings.

Eat an ice cream at the Sletterhage lighthouse

When Line and Morten aren't spending the days at the beach or searching the beach for amber with their amber lanterns, they often head to Sletterhage Fyr Lighthouse on the southern tip of Helgenæs, where you can get an ice cream from Hans, who is also the lighthouse keeper. Sit by the beach with a view of the water, the magnificent scenery and the small white-painted lighthouse with coloured windows. If you find pebbles on the beach, you can exchange them for a lollipop at Hans' ice cream parlour.

Fish for crabs and wash the day away at Skødshoved Beach

Sarah Maria and her family like to take the short walk down to child-friendly Skødshoved Beach, which is the perfect setting for relaxing beach days with its crystal clear water, fine sand and small ice cream parlour. Here you can collect shells and pebbles, take a dip and jump in the blue waves. Not far from the beach is the marina, where you can take part in crab fishing on the pier and have a lovely lunch at Skødshoved Badehotel.

Perhaps the best beach on the Mols peninsula can be found at Strands' sandy beach at Begtrupvigen. No summer holiday for Benedikte, Martin and the kids would be complete without a couple of trips a day down to the beach, where you can take a dip, go kite and windsurfing or watch the paragliders glide over the water from the cliffs. When you return home, have a refreshing rinse at the outdoor shower or warm up in the wood-fired sauna in Benedikte and Martin's summer house.

Eat ice cream at Denmark's (perhaps) best ice cream parlour

Anette's summer house is just 100 metres from the water, where the family enjoys kayaking, SUP-boarding, swimming and fishing. If you're lucky enough to catch something, you can cook it at the outdoor kitchen on the terrace. Don't miss out on a walk along Klitvej, where Fjellerup Vaffelbageri is waiting for you. Enjoy a warm, crispy waffle with a view of the water at the waffle bakery, which has been voted Denmark's best.

Take morning and evening swims at Grenå Strand

It's a daily must for Annelene and Søren to grab a towel and make the short walk down to the beach for a morning and evening dip. Grenå Beach is one of the finest and most child-friendly beaches on the east coast with its dunes, fine-grained sand and shallow water. Feel the sand between your toes, enjoy a fresh morning dip or have an evening swim as the sun sets over the water.

We love spending time at the beach. Grabbing a towel and taking the short walk down for a morning and evening dip is a daily must.

Test your diving skills at Fuglsø Beach

Not far from Lisbeth and Niels' holiday home, Fuglsø Strand is waiting for you with a jetty, great views of Ebeltoft and Denmark's first underwater activity course.

Hold your breath through the four-metre-long tube on the seabed or play a game of tic-tac-toe at a depth of four metres. If you get hungry after your beach trip, Lisbeth and Niels recommend eating a delicious lunch under the trees in Café Fuglsø's garden.
