The Eiderstedt peninsula is the jewel of North Friesland: surrounded by water on three sides, the landscape radiates an incomparable idyll. The endless expanse and direct proximity to the North Sea make this area a desirable vacation destination. Martje and Olaf's thatched-roof house is surrounded by fields with cows.

The beautiful, detached house is divided into two halves. For a family vacation or a larger group, you can simply rent both halves of the house together. Under the charming thatched roof, the larger half of the house offers space for up to 8 people (140m²), while the smaller apartment (70m²) sleeps 4 people. Spread over a total of 210 m² on two levels, there are plenty of places to retreat to. Separate entrances and private terraces guarantee plenty of privacy. At the same time, you have enough space to spend time together, for example in the sauna for up to 6 people.

Thanks to panoramic windows and the location in the garden, you can enjoy an unobstructed view of the beautiful surroundings from here.

The entire house impresses with its use of natural materials, sustainable construction and unique atmosphere. The original character was retained during the renovation and complemented with carefully selected furnishings. Concrete floors and underfloor heating meet lovingly selected vintage treasures and retro details.

The spacious 1,000 m² natural garden is a true feel-good paradise: Here, children have plenty of space to play and adults can take a deep breath in close proximity to nature. In the evening, you can spend cozy hours together by the fireplace and enjoy delicious bread on a stick.

Please note: We love thatched-roof vacation homes - when dealing with fire and electricity, we ask guests to ensure that the thatched roof is not exposed to any fire risk. You will receive more detailed instructions from your host.

The fee is not included in the price because it depends on where you stay, how many nights you stay, how old you are and if you’re bringing your dog. The fee varies between €0 and €4 per adult per night and should be settled with the host upon arrival.

Highlights from Martje und Olaf

Host since June 2023

  • The two halves of the house are discreetly separated from each other and offer you the opportunity to spend your vacation together while still maintaining your privacy
  • The garden sauna, which offers space for six people and has a panoramic window, serves guests as a personal oasis for wellness and relaxation
  • The 1,000 m² natural garden in a secluded location has a fireplace, two terraces and offers an unobstructed view of the beautiful surroundings

My name is Martje and together with my husband Olaf I live in North Friesland. When an old workers' cottage in our neighborhood came up for sale 10 years ago, we decided to renovate it. Sustainability and the use of high-quality materials were particularly important to us, with the aim of bringing out the original character of the two halves of the house. Over the years, we collected furnishings with character and renovated the house with a lot of love and passion. Today, our thatched house with its two halves has become a very special gem for large and small travel groups. We love the spaciousness and tranquillity of the area. We try to spend as much time as possible in the magical landscape - on balmy summer nights with the chance of seeing the sea light up.
