A small wooden hut in a large community

In Bjerghuse between the fjord and the North Sea lies a seaside village with a history. What was once a children's colony in the 1950s is now a gathering place where you can make new friends and become part of a larger community. In the seaside village, you can find closeness and simplicity in one of the small cabins, with only one room for both sleeping and staying.

The hut has a cosy atmosphere. When you enter, you are surrounded by wooden walls and functional furnishings. Make yourself a cup of coffee in the kitchenette and sit around the small folding table on the wall. You can also make a pot of lemonade for the kids and drink it outside in the sun on the terrace. In the bathroom you can have a cold shower after a long, hot day. If you come in winter, you can warm your towel on the towel dryer. When it's evening in the cottage, you can gather on the sofa for some bedtime reading before the kids hit the bunk beds. The cabin can be booked with three single beds or with a queen bed and a single bed.

In the seaside village you have ten neighbours. If you feel like it, there's plenty of opportunity to become part of a new community. In the large common house, you will find an extension of the cottage's living room. Bring your knitting and sit in the fireplace lounge or meet some new friends over a game of Ludo. You can also grill sausages on the barbecue in the outdoor area around the common house. And if your evening meal needs a little flavour, you can probably find some herbs in the kitchen garden. At the campfire you can sit all evening and watch the light slowly fade away while the children roast marshmallows with the other children from the neighbouring cabins.

During the day you can explore the area, which offers both beautiful scenery and cultural experiences. Visit Bovbjerg Lighthouse, for example, where art exhibitions are often held. In the fishing village of Thorsminde, you'll find the St George Stranding Museum, where you can learn about some of the dramatic strandings that took place on the west coast. You can also take the children to the forest playground, which is close to the seaside resort. Let the kids run and play among the trees while you take a deep breath of fresh forest air. At Staby Ice Cream Dairy, you can taste a handmade farm ice cream and take a look inside the dairy. Here children can learn how a cow is milked or get to cuddle the little calves.
