You'll sleep really well and wake up refreshed for adventures in the mountains.
The fact that it's possible to walk out the door and straight up into the mountains, on foot or on skis, provides a deep sense of calm that both adults and children really benefit from. There are lots of great mountain walks here and all seasons offer great opportunities to explore the area - in summer, those who aren't afraid of cold water can take a really refreshing dip, and in winter you can rent a snowmobile and drive into the fantastic trail network. Perhaps head all the way to Elgå and have lunch at Femund lodge, run by Lars Monsen himself! There are also great opportunities for alpine skiing in Trysilfjellet or across the border to Idrefjell in Sweden. One of my personal favorites is Stall Rydland, where you can rent horses and go horseback riding in the forest or enjoy sleigh rides in the winter. For the little ones in the family, the hike up to a beautiful waterfall and bathing pool with a fire pit just half an hour's walk from the cabin is ideal - even short legs can make the trip.
