This simple and cozy holiday home is located between grass and heather near Denmark's northernmost North Sea town Gammel Skagen. Højen, as the area is also known, is a traditional fishing village on the west coast that has grown together with the town of Skagen itself - and the charm and authenticity of the old fishing houses is unmistakable.
The cottage is painted black with original details such as yellow tiles and charming sloping ceilings in the bedrooms. On an autumn day, you can light up the old, original wood-burning stove and settle down in the dining area with board games, sweets and hot drinks. On warm summer days, the coziness moves outside to one of the lovely seating areas on the tiled terrace around the house, where you can smell the heather and taste the salt in the sea breeze.
Around the house, Skagen's beautiful nature awaits with plenty of experiences for the memory book. Walk from the cottage all the way to Grenen with the North Sea as your companion on your left, chase the sinking sun on Solnedgangspladsen, or enjoy the food and atmosphere at the traditional old seaside hotels Ruths, Brøndums and Hjorts.

Walk the few hundred meters to the beach on small paths between the dunes
Take a stroll to the charming fishing village Højen facing the North Sea - also known as Gammel Skagen
I moved to Skagen in 1976 and I've been coming here ever since. It's quite simply my favorite place. In 1985, I helped my father build the summer house on Søstjernevej, which, incidentally, was designed by my uncle. Now I bought the cottage myself from my parents. I enjoy long walks by the beach and out on Grenen and cycling to the old districts of Østerby and Vesterby. The harbor is also always worth a visit with the many yachts and cozy restaurants.
The Skagen painters believed it was the light that made the region special. Perhaps it's the fresh breeze that can be felt as light puffs across the town or as powerful storms blowing through the marrow and bones. Either way, it's simply my favorite place.
