My name is Jøril, and `Usett´ is my and my family's cabin. We live in Oslo on a daily basis, and use the opportunities we have to pack our bags in summer and winter. We love our cabin - it's functional and flexible with lots of soul and is close to nature. Here we can really feel like we're getting out of the city to find peace and quiet with family and friends, or alone. Our cabin is our sanctuary that gives us the opportunity to slow down, enjoy nature and what the moments have to offer.
If the weather permits, we bring our kayak and hammock and spend the night on one of the nearest islands. Beaches and lazy days on the rocks are just a short drive away. We love lazy summer evenings on the terrace, amidst the silence, enjoying the sunset overlooking the spectacular Hvaler archipelago. This is the place for memorable experiences in the heart of Hvaler.
We have chosen to live a sustainable life at the cabin and collect rainwater in two large tanks, we have water on the wall by the kitchen, water in the tap in the bathroom and a magically delicious outdoor shower with cold and hot water. We wash dishes to the sound of birds chirping and wash clothes by hand. We have an incinerating toilet in the bathroom. We are very fond of this simple and slow everyday life in step with the rhythms of nature at our cabin.
