The Danish small islands are very special, and the small island of Femø in the Småland Sea is no exception. At the end of a quiet road is this lovely, traditional cottage from the 1970s. Here you can enjoy the peace and quiet, pick apples in the garden and take a dip in the sea just 150 meters away.
The house offers three small, cozy rooms and a lovely living area with a kitchen, dining area and living room. The house has been preserved in its original style with fine blue floors and frames, which gives a very special cottage atmosphere. From the living room you have a lovely view of the garden and you can walk directly out onto the covered terrace, where you can still be part of the action inside. Here you can enjoy the sun, sit back with a good book or shelter from the rain on a quiet fall day.
The garden is large and spacious, so the kids can play, you can lounge in the shade or build a fire. You can also eat a lot of blackberries in late summer. In early August you can attend the annual jazz festival, during the summer you can experience the Women's Camp, the oldest of its kind, and you can always borrow bikes and explore the local island life.
You can get here by ferry from Kragenæs on Lolland or you can sail in your own boat and dock in Femø's cozy little harbor.

Enjoy the beautiful view through the large windows in the living room that connect indoors and outdoors
The peace and quiet of the enclosed garden where you'll find potatoes, fruit trees and delicious berries
Throw a towel over your shoulder and jump into the sea just a few meters from the house
Our names are Signe and Trine, and we are two friends in our 30s who have known each other most of our lives. We bought the summer house in the spring of 2021, and we enjoy having a place to go when we want to relax either together, with friends or separately. We grew up in the same town, but we live in Slagelse and Copenhagen respectively. We've been coming to Femø for many years and we enjoy disconnecting from the, at times, busy life in the city. On Femø, there is such a wonderful sense of community where we greet each other when we cross paths.
We come here especially in connection with the annual jazz festival. We also enjoy walking or cycling in the hilly landscape, where there are several beautiful viewpoints along the way. Along the way you can visit the church, Frugtcentralen, flea markets, the small creative workshop Smuthullet, Det Gule Magasin at the harbor, where you can stock up on supplies, and Femø Kro, where there is always a great atmosphere and delicious food. The South Sea Islands are known for their fruit, especially apples, so if you visit in the fall, there are plenty of opportunities to bring home apples, pears and plums.

The cottage is located near the coast in a small vacation home area with very spacious gardens. Lots of greenery, nature, and even wild animals such as rabbits, pheasants, and a variety of birds can be observed directly from the house. Downside: Due to the proximity to various small bodies of water, mosquitoes are to be expected in summer, at least after rain—especially in the evening and in the garden. The vacation home itself is cozy and functionally furnished. The furniture and most of the other furnishings are already a few years old, but have been well maintained. It is clean, but nature in the form of spiders sometimes finds its way into the house. We had to do without Wi-Fi and a powerful mobile phone connection – what a relief! Communication with the two hosts was very pleasant and helpful! This vacation home is definitely worth recommending to anyone looking for peace and quiet and a certain closeness to nature.
