the 'Guest House' was built in 1962 and has been carefully renovated several times since then with great care and focus on both functionality and respect for the original house. So even though the house is older, it's great to be here all year round.
Inside the house itself, you can enjoy each other's company in the large living space open to the kitchen and terrace. There are beds in three bedrooms and bed linen and towels are provided so you don't have to worry about it from home.
The house is located at the end of a cul-de-sac in a quiet area. It's only 300 meters to the beach and four kilometers to Gilleleje, where there's always life and fun. "The guest house is located in a combination of a flower and nature garden with a small lake and exciting wildlife. Here you'll meet ducks, coots, deer, herons and a very rich bird life with a view of the large bird migrations in spring and fall. There are also many butterflies and all kinds of insects - and dragonflies so big that you can almost run into them if you're not careful. There's virtually no traffic noise and with the wind in the right direction, you can sit on the terrace and enjoy the sound of the sea.
There are experiences in the garden all year round. In summer, the tall trees cast a lovely, cooling shade combined with many flowering shrubs; from the Rhododendron of spring to the Hydrangea of high summer. Autumn offers all kinds of fall shades, followed by the winter mood over Christmas, when we break the darkness with outdoor lighting in trees and shrubs. Should the weather not be conducive to spending time outdoors, there is plenty of space in the house for both socializing and retreating to yourself.
North Zealand is called "The Danish Riviera" due to the large areas of coastline. Just 300 meters from the house is the local beach, which sometimes is a lovely sandy beach, other times is filled with rocks that you have to climb to get out and swim. With its location at the top of Zealand, wind and weather determine what the local beach looks like. Fortunately, you only have to walk a few hundred meters to the right or left to find where the sand has been moved by the current.
The beach is also the area that offers more than just swimming; from there you can watch the sunset on a warm summer evening or get blown away in the spring and fall storms. You're especially lucky when it's "ice winter" with large ice formations along the coast.
If you enjoy hiking in nature, there are many routes to enjoy in North Zealand. The most local is the "Gilbjerg Trail" which starts 900 meters from the house and winds along the coast to the center of Gilleleje.
Along the way there are rest stops to enjoy the view over the water, historical memorials that tell of others who have visited the area and one of the country's oldest seaside hotels where you can get something to eat and drink along the way.

Highlights from Lise-Lotte
Host since February 2021
The 2500 m2 plot, which offers a park-like area and more wild nature with wild plants
The lake that attracts many animals to the area. Not least the ducks and the large flocks of birds right across the garden
The small dinghy to row around the lake and the jetty where you can sit and enjoy watching the water
My husband Finn and I, Lise-Lotte, became cottage owners in 2000 by chance. We fell in love with the spot where we live now - back then with a large, but somewhat neglected Monet garden with a lovely old traditional cottage on it. We bought the house next door the following year and it has become our 'Guest House'.
That was more than 20 years ago, and we are now permanent residents of Gilleleje on the spot we found back then. We feel very fortunate to have the 'cottage atmosphere' all year round.
Since 2014, we have rented out "The Guest House", focusing on "good hosting", which for us is to welcome our guests as we ourselves would like to be received, while respecting the guests' wishes for privacy.
We look forward to welcoming you to 'The Guest House'.
