Idyllic romantic "hospital" in nature

Amid some of the most unspoilt countryside in Denmark lies this romantic half-timbered summer house. The house is just a stone's throw from the beautiful Engestofte Estate and its park and is often called 'the hospital' as it was used in the old days to care for the estate's employees. The charming details of the past are beautifully preserved in the thatched house. The house is about 200 metres from the estate's private park, from which there is access to the beautiful Maribo Søndersø lake. From here you can use the estate's private bathing bridge and swim and canoe in the summer.

The recently renovated cottage is decorated in a romantic style with love for the historical, but also for the comfortable and functional. Bright colours, wooden furniture and personal touches create a charming and tranquil atmosphere that fits beautifully with the house's surroundings. The bedroom, with its beautiful wallpaper and genuine vintage-style furniture, is truly worthy of an estate, and the room is accompanied by an en suite bathroom, complete with a romantic bathtub on lion's feet.

The living room has space for cosy meals at the dining table and relaxation on the soft sofa corner. The back room has a small, cosy living room that can also accommodate a couple of children, and the elegant kitchen with its beautiful worktop and brass details is equipped with everything you need to prepare a wonderful meal.

Behind the kitchen there is access to your own private garden. Here, ivy winds wildly around a lovely old garden shed converted into the most charming conservatory. Here you will also find a cosy terrace with table and chairs.

The cottage is located in the middle of the Maribo Lakes Nature Park in a cluster with three other idyllic cottages, which back in 1457 formed a royal farm. Here you can enjoy the view over the lake area of Søndersø, which in its undisturbed state is one of the most beautiful, and experience the fascination of being in a place where there are no traces of buildings or other human activity. If you are lucky, you might spot rare orchids and butterflies on a walk through the forest or see the amazing sea eagles that breed here.
