We love spending our weekends and vacations in our little summer house. We designed and built the house ourselves, so it feels very personal to us. Since we live in a house that requires a lot of maintenance, this summer house is a refuge where there isn't too much to keep up with. We therefore chose to leave the original reeds around the house and instead raise the house one meter above the reeds so that we still have an unobstructed view of the sea. The house is not large, but it has everything we need to relax and be together.
We are a family of four, and we start to unwind as soon as we drive into the driveway.
We love going for long walks and swimming in the sea. The summer house is in the second row with a view of the sea, which we enjoy both in winter and summer. There is access to the beach from one of the public paths, which we often use.
When we are not in or near the summer house, and the weather permits, we visit other local beaches. The surrounding areas also offer wonderful experiences, whether it's restaurants, markets, or just a walk in nature.
Gudmindrup Beach in the summer is also recommended, as the sand here is fine and free of seaweed.
Walks in Klint are also a wonderful excursion. And if we need a little 'city life', we go to Nykøbing Sjælland or Rørvig. A ferry trip over to Hundested is also recommended.
We love to cook our own food at home and shop locally. We can recommend TIR bakery for the best bread or Birkemosegård's farm shop.
If you want to eat out, we can recommend Birkemosegård's restaurant, Burger på Olgas, pizza and Middle Eastern dishes at Havnebyens Kaffehus.
Other recommended places to eat and shops selling food include the kiosk in Havneby and Havnebyens Kaffehus. TIR BAKERY / the bakery on Gnibenvej sells the best bread. Come early, as it sells out quickly.
