In the middle of Naturdestination Skovsgaard's 250 hectares of wild grazing land, Påøgård is located in scenic surroundings. In the protected wild grazing area, wildlife is allowed to live on its own terms, so it's a natural part of living at Påøgård that cattle and wild horses can come by and take a rest in the courtyard.

The house has a characteristic red front door and charming mullioned windows. Inside you'll find old, charming wooden floors and a wood-burning stove for cozy moments. It's ideal for families who want to experience nature up close. Please note that both rooms with bunk beds are pass-through rooms to each double room.

Outside the house there is a wonderful view of the protected meadows, a perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or watch the sun go down after a long day of adventure.

The house is located a few kilometers from Naturdestination Skovsgaard's main buildings and close to Påø Beach - an ideal place for a dip on a hot summer day. The area is spectacular for long walks, picnics and bird watching.

It is very important that all pets are kept on a leash when in the wild grazing area. As Påøgård is located inside the wild grazing area, pets must be kept on a leash at all times.

Please note that parking at Påøgaard is at your own risk. Wild cattle can rub up against the cars due to itchy fur, so we recommend that you park inside the large barn to the left of the house. If you don't want to risk it, you are welcome to park on the beach outside the wild grazing area or at Skovsgaard's main parking lot, Kågårdsvej 12.

Skovsgaard Estate, also known as Naturdestination Skovsgaard, is located on southern Langeland in scenic surroundings. Today, the estate is owned by the Danish Nature Foundation, which was founded by the Danish Society for Nature Conservation. For this we owe a big thank you to a very special woman.

Miss Ellen Fuglede was the last and only heir to Naturdestination Skovsgaard. As she had no heirs, it was very important to her that the place could be preserved as a whole. Therefore, she bequeathed the estate and its 389 hectares to the Danish Society for Nature Conservation, which was later taken over by the Danish Nature Foundation. The legacy to the foundation is a gift, but also a task. For the unmarried Miss Fuglede, the nature around Naturdestination Skovsgaard was the most precious thing she owned, which is why it was very important to her that the property remained in conservationist hands.

Today, you can visit Naturdestination Skovsgaard, which is filled with exciting and wild nature experiences for families with children and nature enthusiasts. Here you can also explore the estate's 400 hectares of land, 245 of which are set aside for protected meadows and wild grazing with cattle and wild horses.

We really enjoyed our stay and only have one (hypothetical) complaint: the hot water doesn't get very hot. I hope the staff flushed the pipes (let the water run for 5 minutes) before we arrived, so as not to risk legionella infection. The house is spacious and nicely located with a view of a lake with many birds, cranes, herons, sea eagles, and lots of geese and jackdaws. The heating is geothermal, supplemented by a wood-burning stove that draws well and burns cleanly. Apart from the hot water, the house and location exceeded our expectations.
