Summer on Djursland: Four unmissable events in the summerland
Djursland is packed with events all summer long for all ages. We've created a guide to what you should experience in the summerland.
Active In Nature
On Djursland, you'll find the event company "Aktiv I Naturen", which aims to create nature and health activities for visitors. If you're on a summer house trip with friends, it's a great idea to go out and try your hand at a lot of activities in nature that will surely challenge you mentally while having fun. You can go hiking, mountain biking, rubber boat sailing, and outdoor fitness with training such as boxing. There's nothing like a fun activity to bring a group of friends together and create memories for life.
Close to the area, Nanna has an idyllic summer house in Mols Bjerge, with space for the entire large group of friends. Here you can recover after a fun and tough day of outdoor training and activities. You also have the option to rinse off in the outdoor shower on extra warm days, grill on the terrace, and enjoy yourselves.
If you're in the mood for some city life during your stay, the town of Ebeltoft is not far away, where you can walk through the charming streets and see the beautiful houses the town holds.
Visit Gammel Estrup with the whole family
Gammel Estrup is a manor house where counts and countesses once lived their lives and daily routines. Today, it has become a museum where you can gain insight into how people at Gammel Estrup lived in the past. Over the summer, there are plenty of activities, and in Herregårdsgaven, children can be master builders of their own construction project this year. There are activity rooms with sandboxes and a crafting workshop where children can build manor landscapes, and outside they can try their hand at crafts via special building kits. Children can also explore the castle in the footsteps of Rasmus Stalddreng and see life at the castle from a child's perspective.
The permanent exhibition is also worth visiting when you visit Gammel Estrup, as here you can see how the halls and living rooms looked for the gentry and the servants.
Only 20 minutes from Gammel Estrup, Anders has a summer house with sea view, where you can retreat after a long day of castle adventures. There's room for the whole family and a little extra, so you can gather everyone for a summer house trip. The summer house is located in quiet surroundings with a large garden, so the children can play as wildly as they want.
Wilderness brunch and gourmet
Although summer is often synonymous with spending time with family and friends, sometimes you might need to unplug and just be together as a couple. If you and your partner can relate to that, at Karpenhøj Naturcenter you have the opportunity to dine at either a wilderness brunch or wilderness gourmet. What both experiences have in common are good ingredients that take into account the season, the environment, and not least the good taste experience. In addition, there are also plenty of other experiences at Karpenhøj Naturcenter such as bike rides, sunrise kayaking, and hikes.
Dorthe has a lovely summer house, Casa Mols, close to Karpenhøj Naturcenter, which with its 180-degree view invites tranquility. You get sea view, grill, outdoor shower, and a wood-burning stove, which must be said to be the perfect recipe for a weekend getaway with your partner. Dorthe's summer house is only 350 meters away from the beautiful Skødshoved Strand and only a 20-minute drive to Mols Bjerge. If you want to arrange your own wilderness brunch or gourmet experience, you can alternatively pack a picnic basket and take it into nature in Mols Bjerge.
Summer at Havmøllen
Havmøllen is a place for culture and community life in Ebeltoft. Here you'll find a farm shop, café, and events for all ages. You can go foraging, attend a movement workshop, take a SUP trip along Havmølleåen, and much more. Havmøllen wishes to preserve the historic mill farm and create cultural value for the people who visit the place. They also wish to protect nature, and therefore they focus on biodiversity, regenerative agriculture, recycling, sustainability, local products, and organic kitchen production.
If you wish, you have the opportunity to stay overnight at Havmøllen, so you can truly soak up nature and life at Havmøllen without interruptions.
Havmøllen is also located close to Jernhatten, Mols Bjerge National Park, and within a short driving distance to Ree Park, Ebeltoft Gårdbryggeri, and Mols Kafferisteri. So there are plenty of opportunities to experience a lot of Djursland while visiting Havmøllen.
