Go exploring in Korevlerne with the children

Lace up your hiking boots, pack a lunch, and explore the over 100-year-old protected nature area, Korevlerne, which contains many types of nature, wild animals, and rare plants. Korevlerne is a completely unique nature area near Ellinge Lyng in Odsherred, located by Sejerø Bay. Korevlerne is a lagoon situated between two sandbars. It is an area that lay underwater for many thousands of years but emerged in the early 1900s. The area consists of sand dunes, coastal lagoons, dune heaths, salt marshes, and swamps and is definitely worth an experience for the whole family.

Korevlerne is an ideal place to explore with children. Here, they can truly use their senses and discover unique nature that is unlike anywhere else in the country. However, the area is certainly also interesting for adults. Feel free to bring a basket and collect beautiful and rare flowers, as well as herbs, mushrooms, and berries. If you are very lucky, you might see the small rare Danish breeding bird, the kingfisher, which is found in the area around Korevlerne.

Galloway cattle graze on the large heather areas at Korevlerne. These large and beautiful animals are calm and peaceful, and you can easily walk past them or let the children feed them. You don't need to bring any feed other than what you can pick in nature. After a long day in Odsherred's rich nature, you can continue the family fun in Daisy and her family's 130 square meter cottage with room for the whole family. In the cottage's large garden, there is a playground for the kids, a fire pit where you can roast marshmallows and twist bread in the evening, and a large selection of various outdoor games for you to enjoy.

Eat ice cream and build sandcastles on Gudmindrup Beach

In Gudmindrup, you will find not only one of Odsherred's best beaches, but one of Denmark's best. The approximately 500-meter long and 30-meter wide sandy beach with dunes faces Sejerø Bay. The beach is extremely child-friendly, as the water is shallow far out. During the summer, the beach is also staffed with lifeguards from Tryg Fonden.

Gudmindrup Beach is a perfect place to visit if you want a fun and relaxing day. Fill the cooler with something delicious and refreshing, bring a blanket and sunscreen, and enjoy the sun while the kids play along the waterline or build sandcastles on the white sandy beach. If you are staying in a cottage in the area, you can advantageously take the trip down to the beach through the beautiful terrain, where you will pass the dunes shaped by the forces of the ice age along the way.

If you fancy an ice cream, Haveje in Gudmindrup is only 2 minutes away. Here you can also get delicious burgers, homemade elderflower juice, and much more. End the day in Daniella and Mikkel's child-friendly holiday paradise of a cottage in Højby Lyng, just a stone's throw from Gudmindrup Beach. There is room for the whole family here, and Gudmindrup Beach is only a kilometer away, so you can get up and go for a swim again tomorrow.

Go on a flea market trip and visit Tuskemarkedet

Do as Rikke and Andreas and take the children by the hand and visit the large flea and street market in Vig, Tuskemarkedet. Here, the opportunities to find flea market treasures are good. Tuskemarkedet is large, and you can easily spend several hours walking through the many rows and exploring the various stalls. There is something for everyone – both children and adults.

If you have small children, there is a very nice and large nature playground integrated into Tuskemarkedet where the children can play. Also, feel free to visit the small, surrounding villages, where you can find unique flea market finds and buy delicious delicacies to take home. Keep an eye out when you drive around, as most places are marked with an “open” sign out by the street.

Dedicate the day to the children with a trip to Sommerland or Zoo

If the day is to be dedicated to the children, a day trip to the popular amusement park, Sommerland Sjælland is definitely a top priority. Sommerland Sjælland is perfect for families with children aged 0 to 12 and offers fun rides, go-karts, and Zealand's largest water park, Den Blå Lagune. The kids love it, and there's nothing quite like a few hours where the waves can go high in the water park instead of at home in the summer cottage.

You can also take the children on a trip to Odsherred Zoo, which has the cutest lemur family. Odsherred Zoo is Denmark's only Rescue Center for exotic animals, and in addition to lemurs, also has monkeys, ring-tailed coatis, and Amazon parrots, which will undoubtedly cause excitement.

Experiences for the whole family at Nygården

Shop in the lovely farm shop while the kids enjoy themselves with the friendly rabbits or let loose on the large playground. Nygårdens Gårdbutik og Frugtplantage offers plenty of activities for the whole family in incredibly beautiful surroundings. Here, time is yours.

On the large playground, there is a swing set, sandbox, slides, pirate ship, and much more for the children to romp with, while you shop for crafts, flowers, or food in the farm shop, and Nygård has a fire pit where you can roast marshmallows or bake twist bread.

Do as Anne-Sofie and her family and feast on the farm's pick-your-own. At Nygården, you can pick gooseberries, redcurrants, blackcurrants, blueberries, and much more, which you can take home to the cottage and eat with homemade pancakes.
