Get out into nature: 5 unique nature experiences in Odsherred

Explore Odsherred's prehistoric landscape, feel the tranquility of the forest, and dine with your toes in the water. The opportunities for both small and large nature experiences are many. With the help of our local Landfolk hosts, we have put together a guide with five very special nature experiences that you can enjoy when you are on holiday in this popular summer house area.

Dine with your toes in the water

Recommended by Sif and Ole.

Sif and Ole, who have a summer house in Vig in Odsherred, recommend visiting the cozy beach bar, Fatamorgana, located on Høve Strand. Here you can dine with your toes in the water while enjoying the view over Sejerø Bay. The delicious beach café offers both food and drinks – all in the spirit of sustainability and with respect for the surroundings.

However, it is at least as much the café's beautiful surroundings, and the journey there, that is an experience. The café is located in the middle of nature close to the beach, and if you stay in Sif and Ole's summer house, you can follow the coziest small forest and beach paths to get there. The slightly hilly, yet passable nature trails, are a perfect place to let your thoughts flow freely while enjoying the beautiful nature.

Unwind to the sight of grazing sheep

Recommended by Helle and Søren.

Unwind and let peace settle in at the sight of grazing sheep on the beautiful peninsula, Ordrup Næs. Ordrup Næs is an ideal destination if you are on a summer house holiday in Odsherred. Here you can take many lovely walks while enjoying the view of the nearby islands, Nekselø and Sejerø. If you enjoy fishing, there are several good fishing spots along the Næsset. There is also an opportunity to find some shelter from the fresh sea breeze by the coast, so you can enjoy the sight of grazing sheep while having a good time with family or friends. Feel free to bring a packed lunch and enjoy it with a view over Sejerø Bay.

Experience Odsherred's prehistoric landscape

Recommended by Louise and Christian.

Lace up your hiking boots, pack a lunch, and explore Odsherred's beautiful and unique landscape. Louise and Christian recommend taking a trip on the hiking trail, Højderygstien, which is a 7 km long footpath where you truly get to see and experience the very special geological formations that Odsherred is so famous for.

On the trip, you primarily walk along fields, but at times you also encounter muddy and uneven terrain, which is why it's a very good idea to wear good hiking boots for the trip. The trip offers magnificent views of Odsherred's prehistoric landscape. You also pass a cozy little flea barn on the way, where you might be lucky to find a good bargain. Louise and Christian's newly renovated 70s summer house in Asnæs is just a stone's throw from the route, making it an ideal place to stay for a day or two if you want to experience the beautiful hiking trail. The summer house itself, with its beautiful location surrounded by nature, is a nature experience in itself, offering views of forest, sea, and field.

Feel the peace and quiet in Bognæs Skov

Recommended by Katrine and Morten.

Katrine and Morten have a summer house in Kisserup by Lammefjorden, and recommend visiting Bognæs Skov when on a summer house holiday in the area. Bognæs Skov is located on the eastern side of the Tuse Næs peninsula, with Hønsehals Skov and Udby Vig on either side. The forest is surrounded by beautiful protected salt marshes where cows graze. Here you can feel the peace and quiet and enjoy nature with your family and homemade packed lunches.

Close to Bognæs Skov, there is also a good beach, Bognæs Strand, with a bathing jetty and good swimming conditions. Bognæs Skov extends almost all the way to the beach.

Go foraging in a beautiful natural area

Recommended by Ane.

Grab a basket and go foraging in the beautiful and unique natural area, Korevlerne.

Close to Ane's summer house in Højby Lyng, you will find the beautiful natural area, Korevlerne. Korevlerne is a lagoon between two sandbanks, which for a long time were submerged. The area around Korevlerne is home to wild animals, rare plants, and unique nature, consisting of sand dunes, lagoons, heaths, salt marshes, and swamps. You can therefore experience a great variety of nature types when you visit Korevlerne.

The rich plant life around Korevlerne makes the area an ideal place to forage for herbs, berries, and mushrooms. In addition to edible herbs and berries, you can also find heather, yellow everlasting flower, sea aster, and many other beautiful flowers that you can pick and place on the dining table in the summer house.
