Take a morning dip at Skamlebæk Beach
Recommended by Ulrik and Astrid.
If you're up for a refreshing morning dip, Ulrik and Astrid's fantastic 60s holiday home in Fårevejle in Odsherred is only 800 meters from Skamlebæk Beach. It's therefore both quick and easy to pop down to the beach in the morning for a swim, so you're ready for the day's adventures.
If you're into water sports, Sejerø Bay, which Skamlebæk Beach faces, is also extremely suitable. Here you can both kayak and stand-up paddleboard, which you can rent in several places in Odsherred.
You can also take a walk along the beach and out to the tip of Ordrup Næs, where you might be lucky enough to spot both porpoises and seals.
Enjoy dinner with the sunset over Sejerø Bay
Recommended by Marie and Tor.
Pack a picnic basket with dinner and head down to the water to enjoy the most beautiful sunset over Sejerø Bay. Marie and Tor, who have a holiday home in Fårevejle, recommend you do this. Marie and Tor's idyllic holiday home is within walking distance of Ordrup Beach, where there are also good opportunities for swimming or simply taking a quiet stroll and collecting stones along the approximately 330-meter long sandy beach.
On the child-friendly beach, there are both toilets and a wide bathing jetty where children can catch crabs and explore the beach's rich wildlife. Remember a net or a small bucket. If you fancy dessert after dinner, you can buy ice cream at Ordrup Ishus in Ordrup, which is about a 15-minute walk from the beach.
Forage for edible herbs for summer meals along the water Recommended by Ane Kristine.
When on holiday in Ane Kristine's beautiful 70s holiday home in Veddinge Bakker, you are just a short trip from the water, which you can even see through the large windows in the living room. A walk along the water around Veddinge Beach can offer several edible herbs for summer meals, or of course, a cool dip in the water.
Veddinge Beach is a fine sandy beach with only a few large stones. Here there are good opportunities to cool down with a refreshing dip when the sun's rays are baking, or simply enjoy the ocean's energy and tranquility.
If you're into fishing, Veddinge Beach is also a good place to fish. From the coast, you can catch sea trout in autumn, garfish in May, and flatfish all year round.
Build a sandcastle on the child-friendly sandy beach Høve Beach
Recommended by Lene.
Lene's holiday home in Vig is within walking distance of the beautiful sandy beach, Høve Beach, which is one of the most popular bathing beaches in Odsherred. Høve Beach is perfect for families with children, as you have to go far out before it gets deep – and there are no stones either.
Whether you have small children experiencing their first summer in the sand, or your children are already experienced water lovers, the beach offers hours of fun. Build sandcastles right at the water's edge and see if the walls can withstand the waves. Or find stones and shells to take back to the holiday home and paint or glue together into figures.
Explore Odsherred's lagoon
Recommended by Stine.
From Stine's holiday home in Vig, it's not far to Sejerø Bay's shallow coastal area, Korevlerne. Korevlerne is a lagoon between two sandbanks, surrounded by dunes and sandy beaches. At Korevlerne, the water is very shallow, making the area very suitable for the youngest children.
When you walk from Korevlerne down to the water, you can greet the cows. The nature around Korevlerne is also truly unique and offers a rich animal and plant life, which is exciting to explore for both children and adults. Feel free to bring a basket and collect edible plants, herbs, berries, and mushrooms you find on your walk.
