Best viewpoints on Djursland you didn't know existed

Djursland is filled with breathtaking viewpoints over chalk-white sandy beaches, wild cliffs, cozy harbor towns, barren meadows, and, of course, roaring fjords and bays. With the help of our local Landfolk hosts, we have put together a guide to the best viewpoints on Djursland you didn't know existed.

Enjoy the view from the foot of Jernhatten

Mols Bjerge National Park is a unique natural area with many beautiful viewpoints and scenic hiking trails. Daniel, Sofie, and Anna, who have a summer house in the middle of Mols Bjerge, particularly recommend experiencing Jernhatten, which is located on Djursland's east coast facing the Kattegat. Daniel, Sofie, and Anna's summer house is situated right at the foot of Jernhatten with a unique panoramic view over the Kattegat and the small uninhabited island, Hjelm.

Jernhatten is a protected hill 50 meters above sea level, enveloped by troll beeches, carpets of dark green ivy, blue anemones, and always with a view of the island, Hjelm, in the Kattegat. The surrounding nature invites you for a walk in the landscape, which boasts rich plant and animal life, as well as plenty of small beaches, hills, and slopes. The area is absolutely perfect for a picnic, so be sure to bring some drinks and snacks. You can also finish your trip at Ebeltoft Gårdbryggeri, which makes some fantastic beers and sodas that can be enjoyed on the farm's field with a magnificent view over the Kattegat and Jernhatten.

Maritime view over beautiful canals and a cozy marina

In Øer Maritime Ferie in Ebeltoft, you will find Brian's beautiful architect-designed summer house. Brian has worked at Øer Maritime Ferie for eight years, and therefore knows everything about the place and all the small hidden gems in the area. He recommends visiting Café Benjamin, where, in addition to enjoying a delicious meal and the maritime atmosphere, you can also enjoy the beautiful view from the café over the colorful and characteristic houses, surrounded by canals that flow into the Kattegat. The cozy, personal atmosphere is only enhanced by the view over the water and the boats.

Øer Maritime Ferieby was designed by Friis & Moltke and built as seven bridge-connected islands, surrounded by beautiful canals and a cozy marina. The area is a beautiful interplay between the sea, nature, and the maritime environment. In Øer Maritime Ferieby, there are also countless activity options for both young and old. There is free access to the swimming pool, sports hall, a game of mini-golf, and there is a playground with a bouncy cushion, tennis courts, and much more.

Beautiful view over Ebeltoft town

Not far from Mols Bjerge National Park lies Fuglsø Strand. The beach is a fine sandy beach with clear water, bordered by high cliffs. The beach faces east and is therefore perfect for morning swims and a breakfast picnic.

Approximately one and a half kilometers from the beach lies Lisbeth and Niels’ summer house, which has both a wilderness bath and sea view. Lisbeth and Niels recommend taking a walk out onto the small bathing jetty at Fuglsø Strand, where you can enjoy a fantastic view over Ebeltoft and the most beautiful water. Here you can sit for hours and contemplate the view over the water to the sound of the ocean waves – perhaps with a cold glass of wine close at hand.

Not far from Fuglsø Strand lies Molskroen, where you can enjoy world-class food. You can also visit the brasserie at the beach hotel, which is located directly opposite. By the hotel, you will also find a large ice cream parlor, almost directly on the beach, with the most beautiful view over Ebeltoft town.

See porpoises and seals on Helgenæs

The Helgenæs peninsula on the south side of Djursland, despite its size, boasts an incredibly varied nature with steep coastal slopes, low salt marshes, and not least, wide views. On Helgenæs, you will find several Landfolk summer houses, including Bente and John's cute blue wooden summer house, which is located on top of Helgenæs' hilly landscape.

Bente and John recommend visiting Ellemandsbjerget, which is the highest point on Helgenæs. Here you can experience a phenomenal 270-degree view, and see all the way to Ebeltoft, Samsø, Odder, and Aarhus. If you are lucky, you might even spot porpoises or seals frolicking in Aarhus Bay. Take a walk in the rolling hills and low salt marshes in the area around Ellemandsbjerget, and fully enjoy the view and tranquility. Open a bottle of wine and get lost in deep conversations while gazing at the beautiful view.

You can also take a trip to Sletterhage Fyr, which is an absolutely fantastic old lighthouse, or Lushage Viewpoint, where you can enjoy the open landscape with a view into Ebeltoft Vig.

There's something truly special about settling down and getting lost in thought at the sight of water. Explore all our handpicked summer houses with sea view – whether it's the sea, bays, fjords, or lakes.
