Since 1968, Birkemosegaard has been run at the tip of Sjællands Odde, and ecology has always been at the forefront of the farm's operations. The farm shop sells biodynamic and organic products from around the world, including organic specialties from Les Moulins Mahjoub in Tunisia, whole chickens from Gothenborg, and beef from Birkemosegaard's own production.

You can also buy the Thursday box at Birkemosegaard, which is a selection of the best fruit and vegetables from their own fields. The box is reused as it is emptied at the pick-up location.

Nygården also has goats and rabbits that you are welcome to go in and say hello to. Also pick plenty of berries and fruit in the lush fruit plantation, which can be enjoyed at home or on your cottage holiday. Perhaps bake a pie with what you've brought home, or use it as decoration on a summer layer cake. It's a wonderful activity for both young and old, where everyone can truly get close to nature and its magic when it gives gifts in the form of juicy crops.

Their vegetables all come from the nutrient-rich soil of Lammefjorden, as it was once seabed. The area was drained and is now a piece of land where agriculture can be cultivated without a high consumption of nitrogen. You can buy all kinds of potatoes, seasonal vegetables and fruit, and delicacies such as mustard, dressing, and syrup. If you want to experience more of Lammefjorden, you can do so from Helle and Søren's cottage in Fårevejle, where you get the most beautiful panoramic view of the sea and the raw nature.

Visit the hills at Dalsbakkegård

At Dalsbakkegård, you can experience a farm where there has recently been a generational change. In 2019, Mathias and his wife Henriette took over his parents' farm, where the whole family helps to run the place. On the farm, they grow specialty crops consisting of grass seeds, clover, and feed for their Aberdeen Angus cows.

The farm's cattle are so-called nature cattle in nature conservation, which is beneficial for both meat quality and biodiversity. You can buy the delicate meat in the farm shop, but it's also a good idea to order in advance. And while you're there, take a bottle of French wine with you from Bernard Humbrecht in Alsace or Domaine Saint Laurent in the Rhône Valley.

If there's a hidden gardener in you, then visit Gartnergården in Odsherred, which is the area's largest plant nursery. There is a large assortment of colorful flowers, herbs for the kitchen garden, houseplants for the home, and much more. You can also buy pots, garden equipment, and fertilizer for the soil, as well as get advice on how to best care for your new plants. Gartnergården's farm shop is definitely also worth a visit. Here you can buy jam and marmalade from their own fields and herb salt from their own herbs.
