“If you prefer having the beach to yourself, Mols and the area around Ebeltoft is the place to be. The nature is unique and there are lots of charming beaches, where you can easily find a little oasis to enjoy the day without being disturbed by others.”

Our Social Media Manager Amalie lives in Copenhagen, and one of her favourite summer activities is to visit her friends in their holiday homes by the sea. “It’s a great way to get out of the city and can easily be done as a day trip over a weekend,” she underlines. And as someone who enjoys the sea all year around, it’s not surprising that she has more than one beach recommendation.

“Gudmindrup Beach in Odsherred is always wonderful, with shallow water and lots of bathing bridges. Tisvilde Beach or Hornbæk Strand Beach are also places that I always return to. There are great ice cream spots just around the corner to cool down with and in Hornbæk, you’re never far from a beautiful lunch at Hornbækhus,” Amalie says.

“My absolute favourite is, without a doubt, being blown away by the strong winds on the Danish west coast, where I can spend hours searching for small pieces of amber and collecting stones with small holes to hang on a string,” she says.

Do you like to go to the beach by yourself, or with family and friends?
I love spending time by the sea and swim year-round. The sea is my sanctuary and a way to take a break from the busyness of everyday life. I have always been a sun seeker, so in the summer months, I enjoy spending hours on the beach with the sound of the Tour de France in my ears and a bag packed with summer fruits and homemade iced tea.

What’s your favourite beach activity?
I have many! Podcasts, summer reading, listening to the Tour de France / tour napping in the sun, a dip in the sea, eating fresh fruit, the list goes on. When I visit the west coast, I always look for amber and beautiful rocks on the beach.

Which Landfolk holiday home would you love to visit this summer?
I would love to spend a long weekend with friends in a summer house on the north coast and there are so many gorgeous holiday homes to choose from.

This little yellow house is so charming, this cabin next to Denmark's biggest lake, Arresø or maybe this gorgeous family house in Rørvig. I’m also quite smitten with this beautiful Japanese-inspired holiday home.

What destination are you currently dreaming about visiting?
I am travelling from Copenhagen to the Norwegian west coast and look forward to sunbathing on the cliffs and spending time in the mountains – having the cabin to retreat to after an adventurous day. It’s a family vacation with my father and sister.

I would love to stay in this charming cabin by the sea or this stunning modern cabin with gorgeous views sometime.

Saksild

“Saksild is a cosy area with small gravel roads, a charming ice cream shop, a mini-golf course, and a huge child-friendly beach with white sand and shallow water where the children can play safely.”

Lars is our Head of Supply and spent his childhood summers on the endless white beaches in Tisvildeleje. Some of his favourite spots from his youth are Hornbæk and Dronningmølle. As an adult he moved to Silkeborg and because his wife had had a summer house in Dyngby, they landed on the area south of Aarhus.

For many years, they rented the same summer house right opposite the mini-golf course in Saksild for many years. The house is now on Landfolk.

Do you like to go to the beach by yourself, or with family and friends?
I always go to the beach with the family and I really enjoy the fact that we don’t have anything we need to really accomplish together.

What’s your favourite beach activity?
I love swimming and playing in the water... with a ball, snorkel, and paddleboard – I have never enjoyed sitting completely still and reading or just sunbathing. Alternating between playing in the water and getting out to dry and warm up in the sun is fantastic.

Which Landfolk holiday home would you love to visit this summer?
Our children are now 20 and 23, so we have travelled to Skagen and are staying in one of the beautiful yellow houses in the heart of town. Skagen gives us a combination of beach, nature, light, a cosy town, good dining spots, and several museums… so we always have something to do on the days when it rains most of the day – classic summer.

What destination are you currently dreaming about visiting?
As a child, we had a holiday home on Bornholm, near Allinge. The house was sold, and I haven’t been to Bornholm in 20 years, but I really want to go back. I have seen that the neighbouring house to the holiday home of my childhood is on Landfolk, and I would really like to visit with my family and take them down to go swimming from the rocks.

It won’t be this year, but I dream of going on a trip to Norge. There are so many stunning Landfolk houses by cliffs and fjords. This house in Kragerø is one of my favourites.

“Two of my favourite beaches are hidden off the beaten path on Djursland. I love the east coast because the water is so calm and shallow, making it super child-friendly. One of my favourites is Skødshoved Beach, which also has a small marina making it an ideal spot for the children to catch crabs with their crab fishing rods.”

Camilla is one of the co-founders of Landfolk and holds the position as Head of Brand and Marketing. She loves spending time at the beach with her family, and two of her favourite beaches are hidden off the beaten path on Djursland. She loves the east coast for its calm and shallow water, making it super child-friendly.

“One of my favourites is Skødshoved Beach, which also has a small marina making it an ideal spot for the children to catch crabs with their crab fishing rods. A good tip is to find mussels among the stones, break them open, and put the meat on the hook. The crabs love it. Once you have caught a good number of crabs, you can host your own race in the crab race box at the marina. My children love it, and there is always great excitement if their crab is the fastest in the water.

On both sides of the marina, there is a sandy beach where you can lie down and sunbathe while the children play at the edge of the water because it’s so shallow. When you have satisfied your craving for sand and water, you can head to the Italian eatery just behind the beach. They also serve good drinks,” she says.

“My other favourite is Femmøller Beach, which is just a really lovely sandy beach not far from Aarhus, where the water is nice and clear. Down by the beach, there is a really good grill that makes great hot dogs and grilled chickens. And, of course, they also sell ice cream. If you want to experience something different than the beach, you can walk from there into the Mols Bjerge National Park.”

Do you like to go to the beach by yourself, or with family and friends?
I usually go to the beach with my husband and our two children, both when we are on holiday and after work on a weekday. But I also really love starting or ending the day with a dip in the sea all by myself. It gives a wonderful sense of peace and clarity.

What’s your favourite beach activity?
I always bring my SUP board with me. I love being on the water and enjoying the view of the coast from my board – and my children love to join in. They sit in the front, splashing water or looking for jellyfish. We also always pack buckets, shovels, crab fishing rods, towels, a blanket, and snacks. Lots of snacks.

Which Landfolk holiday home would you love to visit this summer?
I would love to visit Mads' holiday home with its wooden terrace and view of the water.

Someday, I would love to invite my whole extended family on a holiday in Maria and Lars' charming personal gem with a relaxing wilderness bath in one of my favourite areas.

What destination are you currently dreaming about visiting?
If I had to really dream big, I would love to spend a summer holiday in a small, red Swedish cottage on its very own island. We have found some incredible Swedish cottages where you can be completely alone. I think that could make for a very special holiday.

Whether you enjoy a quiet dip in the morning while the world still sleeps or dream of spending the whole day at the beach with the kids, your friends or the whole family, we hope you’ll enjoy these wonderful spots.
