Johanne Kohlmetz: Make your own wall hanging

How to do it

1. Find a quilted blanket in the color and size you want. Johanne found hers in a second-hand shop.

2. Cut out various organic shapes from old fabric scraps, clothes, tea towels, or new fabric.

3. Zigzag stitch your cut-outs onto the blanket with a sewing machine – it's okay for it to look rustic.

4. Sew a casing at the top of the quilted blanket and insert a dowel rod.

5. Finally, add a string to the dowel rod and you're ready to hang your wall hanging.

It's about making it rustic and graphic, while also adding some softness in the form of textiles. It's very easy and something you can actually easily make yourself.
