Meet your host

Claus og Karina

Host since September 2021

Our names are Claus and Karina. Claus is the head of an IT department and I am a primary school teacher. We have always liked to break down and build up, renovate and furnish - and we have two houses and an allotment garden house in our luggage before we decided to throw ourselves into the dream of a holiday home. We bought the cottage in July 2020 and have since spent most of our free time putting it in order. It has turned into a lovely house and we are so happy with the result. The location is fantastic - between fjord, sea and forest and close to Aalborg. At least we can not imagine it better. The name DAKOTA comes from a summer house that Claus' grandfather had built in 1942 at Bisnap in Hals. The sign was inherited by Claus from his grandfather and now it hangs on our cottage. One of the things we like most about the place is that everything is within easy reach; forest, fjord and sea, where you can enjoy nature and the tranquility it provides. Hals is a small charming port town with cozy, small streets. If you are in the big city, Aalborg is just 30 minutes drive away and offers everything a city needs with art, culture, food and delicious shops. In the summer we enjoy being by the beach, which is only 900 meters away from the cottage. The beach is very child friendly without strong currents and high waves. On the other hand, you can hijack your own "bathing island" for a whole day - it's fun to lie and sunbathe on a sandbank in the middle of the Kattegat.
