Cottage trip along Odsherred's coast: From Gniben to Korshage

On the approximately 40 km long trip, you will round the entire northern coastline of Odsherred, which is not only one of Odsherred's most beautiful coastlines, but one of the country's most beautiful. Most of the trip goes along the water with sea views over Sejerø Bay, Hesselø Bay, Nyrup Bay, Kattegat and Isefjord. The trip goes from the tip of Odsherred's northwestern headland, Gniben, to Odsherred's northeastern headland, Korshage.

On the trip, you will pass everything from beautiful beach fields to heather-clad moors, massive dunes, cozy harbor towns, and numerous beautiful views over the area's fjords and bays. The trip can be experienced both on foot and by bike, and can easily be divided into several small sections or taken over several days. Along the way, we will give tips on Landfolk holiday homes where you can relax for the night before continuing your journey.

The trip starts at the tip of Zealand

The trip starts at Gniben, which is located at the outermost tip of Sjællands Odde. You can either drive along Gnibevej and park at the military area, or you can find a place to park in the small holiday home town, Ydreby Lyng, which is approximately 5 km from Gniben.

The landscape around Gniben is very special, consisting primarily of moraine hills formed during the last ice age. From Gniben, you have a fantastic view over the sea, where Samsø Bælt and Kattegat meet when it's windy. From here, you can follow the ship traffic to and from Storebælt, or enjoy the sight of the many grazing sheep that roam freely along the heather-clad hills.

Almost at the very tip of Gniben, you will find Jeanette and her family's Nordic-inspired log cabin. Here you can conveniently stay for a day or two if you want to experience Sjællands Odde before continuing your journey. Jeanette recommends visiting the cozy kiosk and café, Olgas, for an ice cream, or taking a trip to the small authentic harbor town, Odden Havn. Here you can buy fresh fish from Odden Fisk for dinner at the holiday home.

If the weather permits, there is a fantastic child-friendly beach by the shipwreck.

Along Sjællands Odde's coast to Sonnerup Strand

From Gniben, the trip goes along Sjællands Odde's northern coastline all the way down to Sonnerup Strand. When you reach Sonnerup Strand, you will have covered the entire 15 km long peninsula. At Sonnerup Strand, you can take a well-deserved break or explore Sonnerup Skov, which is known for its crooked, troll-like trees.

Close to Sonnerup, you will find Signe's pearl of a holiday home, located on top of a hilly holiday home plot with views over the treetops. Here you can relax or, like Signe, visit some of the many flea markets found in the area around the holiday home. You can also explore Sonnerup Skov or simply enjoy the peace and quiet on the large wooden terrace of the lovely retro holiday home.

Take a walk along the cliffs

The trip continues along the coast to Klintebjerg, which is approximately 6 km from Sonnerup Strand. Klintebjerg consists of over 35-meter high cliffs that are right on the coast. There are several paths in the area that run along the edge of the cliffs, from where you have a fantastic view over the Kattegat.

The beach along Klintebjerg is not suitable for swimming due to the many stones, but it is an ideal place to hunt for beautiful stones or even fossils, if you are lucky. Close to Klintebjerg is the charming small harbor, Klint Havn, where there are good opportunities for fishing. If you are into outdoor activities, the area around Klintebjerg and Klint Havn is suitable for kayaking or canoeing, SUP-boarding, or windsurfing. In Dorthe and Karl Erik's modern holiday home near Klintebjerg, you have the opportunity to borrow kayaks or bicycles if you want to explore the area.

Go to a cafe in Nykøbing Sjælland

Now the trip goes from Klintebjerg to the cozy market town, Nykøbing Sjælland, which is a trip of approximately 7.5 km. The first part of the trip goes along the coast with views over Nyrup Bay, until you reach Nyrup Strand, where you follow Vesterlyngvej all the way into Nykøbing Sjælland.

Atmospheric Nykøbing Sjælland offers a wealth of delicious cafes, restaurants, and specialty shops – including Denmark's oldest toy store, Geppel's Legetøj. The town's pedestrian street is bustling with life and good atmosphere in spring and summer. You will find a wealth of Landfolk holiday homes in the area around Nykøbing Sjælland. Bring the whole family to Pernille and Martin's cozy and bright wooden holiday home in Østre Lyng which is located a little east of Nykøbing Sjælland. The holiday home is close to several child-friendly bathing beaches, and if the kids need a little extra pampering, you can do as Pernille and Martin and take a day trip to Sommerland Sjælland. Feel the buzzing atmosphere in the holiday town of Rørvig

The last stretch of the trip goes from Nykøbing Sjælland to Korshage, which is located on the northeastern corner of the Rørvig peninsula. We recommend that you take the trip from Nykøbing Sjælland down to Rørvig Strand, and walk northeast along the coast until you reach Korshage. The trip is a little over 10 km long if you walk along the water. Rørvig Strand is one of the country's very best bathing beaches. Here you can get sand under your feet and let the children play freely.

You can also take a small detour from the route and visit atmospheric Rørvig town, which is full of atmosphere and fun activities for the whole family. At Rørvig Havn, you can lie on your stomachs on the pier and catch crabs, or visit Rørvig Kro, which exudes coziness and atmosphere. You will find several Landfolk holiday homes close to Rørvig, including Rikke and Thomas’ beautiful, black wooden house which is within walking distance of both Rørvig Strand and Rørvig Havn.

If you follow the route along the coast, you will also pass beautiful Dybesø. The lake is one of the old lagoon lakes and is located in idyllic surroundings surrounded by plantation and scrub, close to both forest and beach. Once you have passed Dybesø, you are close to reaching the final destination of the trip, Korshage. Korshage is known as Zealand's answer to Skagen, where sea and fjord meet. The landscape consists of beautiful heath and heather-clad areas with grazing horses and sheep. You can often see anglers in waders fishing along the stony beach.
