Down by the water in the beautiful nature area of Vågslid, you'll find this architect-designed dream of a cabin 800 meters above sea level. With its simple, now graying wooden facade and grass on the roof, it contrasts beautifully with the classic dark cabins nearby. Here you can let yourself be embraced by the tranquillity of the landscape and the intimate and welcoming décor.

Inside the cabin, it's easy to see the hosts' attention to detail - from second-hand finds that have been given a new lease of life, to fine design solutions such as different social zones. At the dining table, you can enjoy long, cozy meals or creative projects, while the long bench by the windows or the sofa offers the opportunity to curl up with a good book - preferably with your favorite music in the background from the hidden sound system in the living room. Upstairs, the loft and oak posts provide the perfect setting for the kids to play.

The cabin has two bedrooms on each floor, and there's plenty of space for families or several generations to gather in the cabin. At the same time, the cabin doesn't feel too big for a couple or family to experience its intimacy. In the main house, the large windows create a fantastic influx of light and give you the feeling of being at one with nature. If you're lucky, you may be visited by both hares and foxes outside the living room windows.

Outside, you can enjoy the sun on all sides of the cabin, from dawn until it sets behind the mountain in the evening. Lose yourself in the beautiful view of Vågslivatnet lake and the surrounding mountain landscape, and warm up around the fire in the twilight of a late evening.

The fantastic landscape around you offers beautiful nature experiences, whether you choose summit hikes to Simleskjåen or Vesle Nup (1510 meters above sea level), or take the children around Vågslidvatnet, to Hermodshola or around Vasseventyret. If you want a very special experience and would like to get up early, Trolltunga, Dronningstien and Via Ferrata Åkrafjorden Nature with 3 alternative routes are all within easy reach. Expect a 1.5 to 2 hour drive each way to where the tour starts.

In winter, Haukelifjell Ski Center, which offers alpine skiing or snowboarding, is just a few minutes' drive from the cabin. You can also choose to just strap on your skis at the cabin and spend much of the day on the beautiful trail network Vågslid offers. Your hosts also recommend Sæsnuten, which is a whopping 1392 meters above sea level.
