You’ll find peace and authenticity in this thatched half-timbered house, where classic Danish idyll meets English cottage charm. The house is nestled close to nature, surrounded by open spaces and fields, while Knuthenborg and Bandholm offer exciting nearby experiences. The fenced-in garden gives you the freedom to relax while the children play by the old tree trunks with swings.
The kitchen is bright and practical with linoleum flooring, well-equipped with both a Nespresso machine and a large French press. The old wood-burning stove and district heating keep you warm, while the thatched roof naturally maintains a comfortable atmosphere. The bedrooms feature new medium-firm beds, and the master bedroom has blackout curtains for a good night’s sleep.
The sunny sunroom faces east and is the perfect place to eat while enjoying the view of the garden and fields. The garden is fully fenced with an unobstructed view of the fields, so both children and dogs can roam freely. You can hang a hammock between the trees or simply enjoy the silence as tranquility settles in at the end of the day.
Bandholm Beach and Hunseby Beach are nearby, as are the Krenkerup Brewery, Dodekalitten, and the beautiful forests near Søholt and Christiansæde. The Maribo Lakes are perfect for hikes, and Nysted Harbor offers the best ice cream. Café Lysemose and the charming old houses in the area provide plenty of things to do just a short distance away.

We’re a family from Copenhagen who were looking for a place where we could get away from it all and grow closer to one another all year round. Lolland offers nature, charm, and plenty of attractions, so when we discovered this half-timbered house with a thatched roof on the old Knuthenborg estate, everything fell into place. The location gives us the best of Lolland—the safari park, the beach at Bandholm, great dining experiences, playgrounds, beautiful walks and drives, and, not least, the enchanting Maribo Lakes.
