Close to the water on southern Lolland lies Det Gamle Posthus (The Old Post Office) – a charming 145-year-old half-timbered house with a thatched roof and lattice windows that exudes nostalgia, soul, and rural idyll. The house is surrounded by 3,600 square meters of unspoiled natural grounds with flowers, fruit trees, and vast fields stretching as far as the eye can see. Here, both families and four-legged friends can find peace and quiet, and from the garden it is only a few minutes' walk to Stubberup Harbor, where you can take a refreshing morning dip from the bathing jetty. The cozy courtyard and green garden feature a fire pit, glamping tent, and small nooks for relaxation or play, while the stone terrace and garden deck chairs invite you to spend long afternoons in the sun with the sound of birds chirping and pheasants in the background.
Inside, the history and warmth of the house really come to life with exposed beams, an old wood-burning stove, and lots of vintage details and colors that create a lively and personal atmosphere. The 180 square meters comprise three living rooms—including a dining room with seating for 6–8 people around the old oval table—as well as a well-equipped kitchen with dining area and a functional retro bathroom. The house has three bedrooms: one with a double bed and chest of drawers, one with two single beds, and a large room with a double bed, armchair, and view of the garden through the stable window. There is also an extra fold-up guest bed. Both the entrance hall and hallway provide access to the enclosed courtyard, and although the house is old, it is easy to move around – as long as you remember to duck under the stable door to the kitchen, where a little angel hangs as a friendly reminder.
The Old Post Office is an ideal place for those seeking a genuine rural idyll, where there is room for both indoor and outdoor life. Here you can gather the extended family for fun and togetherness in historic surroundings, take the bikes out for a ride in the flat countryside, or find peace with a book in the garden. With access to the entire house and grounds, you will have your very own little paradise – a place where time seems to stand still and where you can feel connected to nature, history, and each other.

- Enjoy the rural idyll surrounded by peaceful, rolling farmland

We are Claus and Trine, and we are completely in love with our 150-year-old post office full of soul. Here, where we can feel the wings of history and where birdsong and the rustling of pheasants form a soundscape, we enjoy spending time. We have renovated the house carefully, with great respect for the beautiful old details, so that the peace and quiet and the pure Morten Korch idyll can provide the perfect setting for contemplation and relaxation. The 150-year-old lady loves to be filled with life, which is why we are happy to rent her out.
When we are here, we often visit Nysted Harbor, Aalholm Castle, or Fuglsang Art Museum. Stubberup Harbor at the end of the road is also cozy and a lovely place to swim. Nysted Bakery is probably the best in Lolland, while Restaurant Ö satisfies all our taste buds. Dodekalitten or a boat trip to Femø or Fejø are always wonderful, while the seal safari from Nysted Harbour is a unique experience. There are so many beautiful sights to see here, so just go out and explore.
