Design houses in Sardinia's wild south-west

A peaceful valley on the edge of the Gutturu Mannu Forest—Europe’s largest Mediterranean forest—serves as the setting for these private homes. The valley offers views of the surrounding hills, and the homes are close enough to one another that large groups can rent them together, while each retains its own privacy.

Designed by Pretziada, an AD100 award-winning design firm, each of these homes has its own unique character. The materials used are natural and as locally sourced as possible: terracotta floor tiles, lime plaster, and thatched roofs. The beds are spacious and comfortable, with handmade linens, and the houses feature contemporary details such as large sliding doors and open living spaces.

The valley is exceptionally peaceful. The sun sets on one side of the valley and the moon rises on the other, allowing you to follow the sky from morning to night. Built in keeping with traditional local architecture, the houses offer optimal comfort year-round.

The Sulcis region, in southwestern Sardinia, offers a varied landscape: deep Mediterranean forests with natural springs, vineyards, rocky coastlines, and sandy beaches. There are numerous archaeological sites to visit, and the region is renowned for its cuisine. Cagliari is about an hour’s drive away.
