You are warmly welcome to stay in this unique, converted barn from the 1800s, located just 10 km from Bergen city center. Here you'll feel like you're in the countryside, even though the city is within easy reach.
The interior is an exciting mix of old furniture and modern creativity. The kitchen, remodeled by a skilled German cabinetmaker, combines oak and linoleum to create a compact and functional space. The bedroom has new skylights where you can lie back and watch the stars, and the living room is simply incredibly cozy, with a fireplace and deep window niches overlooking the garden.
The garden gives you the feeling of being in the countryside and is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the outdoors. The house is also surrounded by the Rambjøra nature reserve, with many great hiking trails starting right outside the gate.
When you're ready for a bit of city life, Bergen is easy to reach by light rail from Hop, which is about a 10-minute walk from the house. Bergen has a lot to offer, including spectacular mountain peaks such as Ulriken and Fløyen, as well as a rich cultural offering with concerts, museums and events.

Our little family lives in a converted barn from the late 1800s inside a yard, about 10 km from Bergen city center. It's a bit of a dream situation, a "city cabin" inside a warm oasis, an incredibly nice way to live. We were allowed to buy the house under the premise that one of us was an artist or architect, which was important to the previous owner who, together with our current neighbors, started a form of cohousing in the 80s. The house, which is a small three-storey dwelling built in Swiss style, belonged to the neighboring house, a larger Swiss villa in its time. We have been told that there was probably room for a girl or boy in the basement and that there were two cows living in the current kitchen. This gives a special atmosphere with a lot of old wood and a charm that sits in the walls.
In the 1980s, when the house was converted into a home, it was done by an architect and a ceramist. The house has a compact and special floor plan with storage and bathroom downstairs, living room with both a low part with loft and a spacious part with double height ceilings. Upstairs there is a small office and bedroom.
Since we moved into the house, we've carefully refurbished the interior and exterior according to the house's style and special character. It has been modernized with a new kitchen and largely new exterior surfaces.
