Restored mountain baite with sauna above Chiavenna

A small village abandoned for decades, perched 550 meters above the Valchiavenna, has been brought back to life as a private retreat. Two cabins, restored using traditional stone, reclaimed wood, and Italian design furniture—such as LAGO kitchens and beds—can accommodate up to six people, featuring one-of-a-kind pieces crafted by local artisans.

The interiors blend mountain architecture with contemporary comfort. At the heart of the property is an outdoor kitchen with a wood-fired pizza oven, a large cedar table under the pergola, a wood-heated outdoor tub, and a wood-fired sauna in the smaller cabin.

Trails start right at your doorstep. The views of the mountainside and the valley are magnificent from every corner of the property. In summer, Lake Mezzola offers a sandy beach, and the valleys are home to numerous spots for swimming in wild waters.

Chiavenna, a “slow city” just a ten-minute drive away, is worth an evening out: an aperitif at Bar Vicini, pizza at Bottonera, or pizzocheri and ribs in the crotti. In winter, the Valchiavenna Ski Area is about thirty minutes away with 40 km of slopes, and St. Moritz is forty-five minutes away with cross-country skiing.
